Duterte Reveals Shortlist For New DSWD Secretary (UPDATED!)

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Now that the Commission on Appointments has rejected Judy Taguiwalo as Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), President Duterte has released his shortlist of possible appointees to the Cabinet post.

In keeping with the ‘grassroots’ qualities of Taguiwalo, Duterte’s list includes:

Mutya ng Masa and ABS-CBN reporter Doris Bigornia
Tsinelas Queen Korina Sanchez
Queen of All Media Kris Aquino
Wildflower’s Emilia Ardiente, Queen of Taray

Queen of Laylayan VP Leni Robredo was dropped from the list because she might just quit the Cabinet post again like she did when she was appointed Housing Czar by Duterte.

Transcript Of Senate’s 2018 Budget Hearing For Office Of Vice President Leni Robredo

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Senate today approved the 2018 budget for the Office of the Vice President, granting Leni Robredo a three percent increase from this year. The senators gave Robredo a P443 Million budget for next year.

Here’s a transcript of the Senate budget hearing:

Senator: So, Ma’am Leni, you are asking for a P443 Million budget for your office in 2018?

VP: That’s korek

Senator: But with all due respect, Ma’am, you yourself said that the only job of the Vice President is to wait for something to happen to the President.

VP: Yes, I did.

Senator: So why do you even need a single centavo for your office’s budget?

VP: Your honor, I have many foreign travels and speaking engagements scheduled for 2018: Rome, London, Paris, Toronto, Sydney and many more…

Senator: Oh, okay. Mr. Chair, I move to approve the almost half a billion 2018 budget requested by the Vice President.

Total Solar Eclipse As Seen In Baguio City, Philippines

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio Bureau) – It was an experience of a lifetime for many in the United States — a total solar eclipse seen from sea to shining sea.

But this rare phenomenon was also seen in Baguio City, the Philippines’ summer capital. It shocked even the country’s scientists and weather experts as it was totally unexpected.

Just when the final moments of the eclipse came to an end in America, Baguio residents woke up this morning to this fantastic view of the moon casting its shadow over the sun.
