MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – At today’s second Senate Hearing on fake news, Senator Manny Pacquiao suggested that all bloggers register with the government and be issued a license to practice.
But he did not stop there.
He also recommended that all pseudo journalists —specifically naming the likes of Maria Ressa, Pia Ranada and Raissa Robles — be asked to do the same.
”We need those who spread fake and yellow-colored news to be held accountable,” Pacquiao said, “and not hide behind the mantra of press freedom.
Ressa, who was present at the hearing, simply rolled her eyes, while Secretary Martin Andanar of PCOO winked at the Senator.
Meanwhile, in her testimony, Ressa spread yet another fake news: that her investment company Rappler helped Rodrigo Duterte get elected president.
