Philippine Businesses Report Short Supply Of Rubber Bands

2CEC3EE0-F87C-438E-A59F-0CF8C26CDB20.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – School and office supply stores in the Philippines are reporting a short supply of the old, reliable rubber band.  And it happened in just the last 24 hours.

An investigation conducted by The Adobo Chronicles points to something that happened at the Senate yesterday, when Special Assistant to the President Bong Go testified in the inquiry of the Navy Frigate deal.

Go was accused by the news media of intervening in the purchase of the warships.

But it was not Go’s eloquent testimony that caught the attention of Filipino netizens.  It was his fashion sense.  He wore several rubber bands on his wrist.

Reportedly a millionaire, Go chose the cheap bands over gold bracelets during his Senate appearance.

Since then, fans of Go as well as the fashionistas started flocking to stores to get their supply of rubber bands.

Shall we call this the People’s fashion?

‘The Yellows Are Tired Of Loving Their Country’ — Archbishop Villegas

A317ECFF-6368-43BF-BB44-AF63CCCDAA70MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Some Filipinos are getting tired of loving their country, which they claim has fallen into a disturbing moral decay.

Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas expressed this sentiment in an open letter on Saturday to Sen. Leila de Lima, who in several days will mark her first year in detention on drug charges.

“There are some of us who are beginning to feel a fatigue for loving our country,” the former president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) said.

The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Villegas as he was about to board his limousine on his way to his hometown in Pangasinan, and we asked him what he meant by “some Filipinos.”

”Well, precisely, I said ‘some’ because this does not apply to majority of Filipinos.  I was referring to a minority group of Pinoys — specifically the Dilawan (yellows) who seem to have nothing positive left to say about their government and country,” he said.

”If they have nothing good to say, they should just shut up and go into hibernation.  That’s the Catholic way.  Even Jesus had good things to say about sinners, criminals and the Pharisees,” Villegas added.

Go tell them, Monsignor!
