VP Leni Robredo Prays To The Patron Saint Of Elections

5D41B3F9-37DA-4908-B646-C3810A538580.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – With her camera crew in tow, Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo attended church this morning at St. Paul the Apostle parish church in Quezon City.

The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Robredo on her way out and we asked her what what she intently prayed for.

Robredo is facing an uphill battle in the electoral protest (recount) filed by BongBong Marcos.  So far, Robredo’s lead in the 2016 Vice Presidential elections had narrowed down by 5,000 votes.

Robredo said she asked for grace and enlightment from Barsabbas, considered by Christians as one of the patron saints of elections.  The other saint is Matthias.

Barsabbas and Matthias were the two who were fighting for the No. 12 spot in Jesus Christ’s apostles — to replace Judas Escariot.  Matthias was ‘voted’ to take that spot.

Tsk, tsk. Robredo apparently prayed to the wrong patron saint — Barsabbas, the one who was not chosen.

Duterte Orders Closure of Balesin Island

BALESIN ISLAND, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  First it was Boracay Island that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte ordered closed for rehabilitation.  Now it’s Balesin Island.

The closure order came just hours after yet another Filipino celebrity wedding was held on the island — that of television host Billy Crawford and model/actress Coleen Garcia.

For tourists and Filipinos unfamiliar with Balesin Island,  it is a tropical island paradise with 7.3 kilometeres of pristine white-sand beaches. It is located off the eastern coast of Luzon in the Philippines.

The island and the unique, members-only, private leisure getway — Alphaland Balesin Island Club —can be reached through a 25-minute plane ride from Manila.

The unique, members-only, private leisure getaway — Alphaland Balesin Island Club

Master-planned by EcoPlan of Miami, Florida, USA, Balesin Island Club was designed with the environment uppermost in mind and to be in perfect harmony with its natural surroundings. Water harvesting, 80% water recycling, a reverse osmosis plant, on-site eco-friendly transportation, organic farming, and alternative sources of energy reduce the amount of waste and ensure sustainable development on this beauty of an island—without scrimping on luxurious, top-notch facilities. The club aims to enhance everything in its environment: the lushness of the large forest sanctuary and the promulgation of the surrounding marine sanctuaries.

Duterte’s closure order had nothing to do with the environment.  Rather, it was closed because it represents the opulence, hypocrisy and arrogance of the Philippines’ top one percent —oligarchs and filthy-rich Filipinos who exploit the country’s natural beauty to cling on to their power and influence.

Sources close to the President said that he is planning to include Balesin Island part of his Administration’s land reform program.

The Partidong Blogger ng Pilipinas atbp (PBP) told The Adobo Chronicles that the following have committed to run as Senator under its banner:

R.J. Nieto, a.k.a. Thinking Pinoy

Sass Rogando Sasot

Maharlika

Mocha Uson

Franco Mabanta

Atty. Trixie Cruz-Angeles

Fiscal Darwin Cañete

Mark Lopez (no, not the new ABS-CBN Chair)

Jovybev Aquino (no relation to NoyNoy Aquino)

Prsidential Special Assistant Bong Go has been invited as a guest candidate for the party.

PBP expects to complete its line-up of 12 candidates by the end of this month.

“There is no need to field more than 12 candidates because we are very confident that all our bets will be voted into the Magic 12,” Nieto said.
