Sotto Wants 14th-Month Pay For Non-Government Workers; Pacquiao Wants 14-Days Pay for Senators

B34F5F1F-AD83-4FBD-B010-4B2D022128CEMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senate President Tito Sotto is hoping that his bill mandating a 14th-month pay for non-Government workers will be passed soon.

Meanwhile, Senator Manny Pacquiao has proposed that the annual salaries of all Senators be cut to an equivalent of 14 days’ pay.

Speaking to The Adobo Chronicles, Pacquiao said that it is only fair that Senators be compensated for the actual amount of work they put in, which is about 14 days total in any given year. “And even those 14 days,” the boxer-turned Senator said, “are spent mostly conducting useless public hearings that do not even aid in legislation.”

Do you favor the 14th-month pay for non-Government workers and the 14-days pay for Senators?  Let us know in the comment section.

For First Time Ever, Philippines To Import Tuyo

E8BB5EBC-01B0-4CF5-8461-92CBFF2BCA2BMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – No less than Facebook Fact Checker Rappler has declared as a hoax reports that Rodrigo Duterte is the first Philippine President to import galunggong (round scad), an inexpensive fish popular among Filipinos. The fact is, the country has been importing galunggong since 2001.

But now, sources close to Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol say that for the first time in Philippine history, the government is importing tuyo —  salted dried fish that’s always been identified as a “poor man’s food” because of its abundance and affordable price.

In a statement issued by the Presidential Communications Coordinating Office (PCOO), it was revealed that the non-stop Monsoon rains that have lingered on in the country is to blame.

”Without the sun, food producers can’t dry the fish,” the statement said, “so the Duterte Administration has no choice but to import the commodity from countries that have sunny weather.”

It wasn’t clear how long the tuyo shortage in the Philippines will last; it depends on the Monsoon situation.

As the TV Patrol weathercaster would say, “Ang buhay ay weather-weather lang.” (Life is but dependent on weather.)

Joma Sison Denies Having Said That Philippine President Duterte Was In A Coma

FA19442B-402F-4637-B718-871ABD03D3AF.jpegUTRECHT, The Netherlands (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – Exiled Communist Party Leader Joma Sison has denied saying that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is in a coma.

Speaking to The Adobo Chronicles, Sison said he has been misquoted by local and international media.

”What I said was that Duterte was in a ‘Jomatose’, not ‘comatose.’ 912A385A-6BE4-48D6-A04B-4B00914EBB44

Asked what he meant by ‘Jomatose,’ Sison said it refers to the fact that Duterte seems to be so obsessed about him in statement after statement on the botched peace talks between the government and the Communist Party of the Philippines headed by Joma.

Joma + tose = Jomatose.  Maybe, Joma should change his name to Coma Sison.
