PAO Chief Acosta On Senator Hontiveros‘ Call For Her To Resign: You First

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senator Risa Hontiveros called for the resignation of Public Attorney’s Office chief Persida Acosta on Friday over the latter’s alleged “scaremongering” on vaccination.

Hontiveros made the call amid an outbreak of measles in at least four regions in the country, which came following a dip in immunization coverage last year following the controversy on anti-dengue vaccine

Speaking with The Adobo Chroniciles,  Acosta said she is more than willing to resign on one condition: that Hontiveros resign her Senator position first.

”At least, ako may ginagawa.  Si Hontiveros, puro lang dada,” she said. (At least I’m doing something, unlike Hontiveros who is all talk)

No word yet from Hontiveros on Acosta’s challenge.

Senator Leila De Lima Finally Admits She’s Completely Clueless

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles,  Quezon City Bureau) – She has admitted to her “frailties as a woman” before, but for the first time, incarcerated Senator Leila De Lima says she is “completely clueless.”

De Lima’s admission came in the form of a handwritten note emanating from her jail cell at the Philippine National Police Headquarters in Quezon City.

No worries, Madam De Lima.  You are not alone.  Many of your esteemed colleagues in the Senate are, too.

The Curious Case of Senator Antonio Trillanes’ Missing Signature

20513F35-248E-46CD-A84B-31342924DC62MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It has been reported in Philippine news media that the 5 minority Senators (otherwise known as Voltes 5) have filed a resolution calling for the release from jail of Senator Leila de Lima, as urged by the United Nations Human Rights Council.

But what has not been reported was that one of the Senators, Antonio Trillanes (whose current whereabouts could not be confirmed by The Adobo Chronicles) didn’t sign the resolution.

As seen by images of the resolution published by the news media, the signature line above Trillanes’ name was blank.  However, the same images show a separate page in which Trillanes’ signature appears, with another signature/initial appearing underneath.

This led to various speculation that Trillanes may be out of the country, didn’t really agree to the resolution, somebody faked his signature, or some other curious reasons.

We’ll leave it to the fact-checkers Rappler and Vera Files to investigate the matter.  After all, they’re being paid to do the job.
