Leni Robredo: Destined To Become President?

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles,  Quezon City Bureau)- Vice President Leni Robredo yesterday said that it was a waste of time to plan to oust the Duterte administration because the Presidency is destiny, not anything that is planned or plotted.

With that, Robredo has plotted her destiny to become President, without needing to lift a finger!

Decoding Gary Alejano’s ‘Code Blue’

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It was a  cryptic message, interpreted by many as a Magdalo-type threat to overthrow the government by staging yet another coup attempt.

It started with this Twitter message from defeated Opposition Senatorial candidate Gary Alejano:

In a hospital setting, Code Blue is called  when a patient isn’t pumping the oxygenated blood he or she needs to survive. It is likely due to cardiac or respiratory arrest.

We asked code experts to try to make sense of Alejano’s tweet and this is their analysis:

”Remember during the campaign when Alejano and several other Otso Diretso Senatorial candidates staged a mock jet ski trip to Scarborough Shoal?  Blue is the color of ocean.”

”So when Alejano mentioned about waiting for Code Blue, he meant waiting for clearance from Opposition leaders like VP Leni Robredo and LP President Kiko Pangilinan to cross the blue ocean to  go into self-exile in the South Chin Sea.”

Good riddance we think!

Adobo Chronicles Opens New Philippine Office, Next To Rappler’s

AC office, Unit A, left; Rappler’s office, Unit B, right

PASIG CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – California-based The Adobo Chronicles (AC) has finally opened its Philippine office in Pasig City, next to archrival Rappler.

Pasig City Mayor-elect Vico Sotto and his mother, entertainment personality Connie Reyes, cut the ceremonial ribbon to formally inaugurate AC’s new local  headquarters located at Unit  A (for Adobo), 3/F, North Wing Estancia Offices, Capitol Commons, Ortigas Center, Pasig City (Rappler occupies Unit B in the same Building floor).

AC CEO and Executive Editor Rene Astudillo said that it is quite appropriate that the news satire site office is right next to Rappler, the top online purveyor of fake news.

Astudillo and Maria Ressa have long been at odds because the Rappler CEO doesn’t seem to get satire.  Conversely, Ressa has accused AC of not getting satire.

Rappler has fact-checked AC many times while Ressa and Rappler have been AC’s favorite topic in its breaking stories.

AC has also announced that it will soon establish an Indonesian Bureau to provide balance and competition to Rappler’s dispatches from Jakarta. It comes right on the heels of unrest in Indonesia following the country’s presidential elections.
