Philippine National Police Presents Internet Service Bill To Senator Leila De Lima

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – For the more than two and a half years that she has been incarcerated at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Senator Leila De Lima has never been cut off from the outside world.

She has been very active on social media, tweeting and posting  screen captures of her handwritten dispatches to her supporters.

The PNP has had it with De Lima’s free ride on Camp Crame’s Internet network that it just presented a bill to the Senator representing her share of charges as invoiced by PLDT, Crame’s Internet provider.

”We are afraid the Commission on Audit (COA) might flag our excessive PLDT Internet bills, a huge percentage of which  is a result of De Lima constantly accessing Crame’s wifi network,” a PNP spokesperson  told The Adobo Chronicles. “After all, we pay PLDT with taxpayer money, “ he added.

De Lima faces  solitary confinement with no Internet access if the bill is not paid.  Her bill reportedly runs in the tens of thousands of pesos.

De Lima’s show airs beginning October 15 and will be broadcast live each week from inside the PNP detention center in Quezon City.

A spokesperson for ABS-CBN told The Adobo Chronicles that De Lima  will discuss a wide variety of topics, mostly focusing on criticism for the Duterte Administration. For the premier episode of her talk show, De Lima has invited Rappler CEO Maria Ressa as special guest.

She will also talk via skype with U.S. Senators Patrick Leahy and Richard Durbin who authored a Senate committee resolution urging the U.S. government to bar the entry of Philippine officials that had a hand in jailing De Lima.
