QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – For the more than two and a half years that she has been incarcerated at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Senator Leila De Lima has never been cut off from the outside world.
She has been very active on social media, tweeting and posting screen captures of her handwritten dispatches to her supporters.
The PNP has had it with De Lima’s free ride on Camp Crame’s Internet network that it just presented a bill to the Senator representing her share of charges as invoiced by PLDT, Crame’s Internet provider.
”We are afraid the Commission on Audit (COA) might flag our excessive PLDT Internet bills, a huge percentage of which is a result of De Lima constantly accessing Crame’s wifi network,” a PNP spokesperson told The Adobo Chronicles. “After all, we pay PLDT with taxpayer money, “ he added.
De Lima faces solitary confinement with no Internet access if the bill is not paid. Her bill reportedly runs in the tens of thousands of pesos.
