Philippine Catholic Churches Shifting To Chinese Flakes For Holy Communion

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – More and more Filipinos are shying away from personally attending Sunday masses and receiving Holy Communion, something that greatly bothers the Philippine Catholic Church.

The situation may be the result of Catholics disappointed over the Church’s increasing involvement in civilian politics, exacerbated by the Covid pandemic which prompted many to hear mass online.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) is not taking this sitting down.

Beginning on the first Sunday in May, Catholic churches will do away with the usual white wheat host for Holy Communion and replacing it with that popular Chinese red flakes, Haw Haw. It resembles the round host, but is reddish in color and delightfully sweet.

CBCP hopes that this will inspire and encourage Catholics to attend mass in person rather than online.

Rappler Surrenders Media License, Applies For Advocacy NGO Status

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Maria Ressa’s Rappler is finally throwing in the towel. After years of contesting its media license revocation by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the online news blog has withdrawn its media in exchange for an NGO status.

Rappler has applied as a political advocacy organization and it is wasting no time in proving its worth as such.

In just the last few days, Rappler has advocated for the release of ex-Philippine Senator Leila de Lima and Hong Kong’s Jimmy Lai.

Ironically, Rappler has been silent on worldwide cries to release WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange who is about to be extradited to the United States to face charges of leaking confidential, top secret information.

Understandable because Assange was the greatest threat to Ressa’s undeserved Nobel Peace Prize.

Leni Robredo To Be Crowned “Missed President” May 9!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – ‘Tis the season for coronations. King Charles. Beauty Pageant Queens. Leni Robredo.

Yes, Leni Robredo.

On the 1st anniversary of her devastating defeat in the May 9, 2022 presidential elections, her supporters are staging a big event at the MOA Arena. The ex-Vice President will be crowned “Missed President.”

It wasn’t clear whether the crowning of Ms. Robredo is a sour-grape ceremony or is, finally, a formal concession that she lost to her bitter rival, now President Bongbong Marcos.

Reigning Miss Universe, Filipino American R’Bonney Gabriel, will crown Robredo.
