EDSA TRAFFIC: MMDA To Open Up Exclusive Subdivisions To City Buses

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A long-lasting solution to the nightmarish traffic along EDSA is in the offing, thanks to Senator Grace Poe and the highly-paid technocrats at the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

Resisting the clamor to grant President Rodrigo Duterte emergency powers to deal with the EDSA traffic, Poe instead proposed to MMDA that all exclusive subdivisions along EDSA and elsehwere in Metro Manila be opened up to city buses.  MMDA immediately agreed to Poe’s proposal.

MMDA said it should have thought of the idea long time ago. The proposal would practically free up the entire stretch of EDSA of smoke-belching, dilapidated and annoying city buses, allowing more private cars to zip through the thorouughfare from Quezon City to Makati in just minutes.

Poe told The Adobo Chronicles that her proposal would also  enable commuters to enjoy the beautiful sceneries inside Metro Manila’s private subdivisions, away from the annoyance of EDSA’s giant advertising billboards.

As expected, those living in the subdivisions oppose the proposal and are planning to stage a protest rally this weekend. Along EDSA.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Quezon City Government has decided to move the statue of Ninoy Aquino which used to be  located  on Timog Avenue, as a way to ease traffic in the area.

The original plan was to transfer the statue to 25 Times Street, the location of the Aquino family home in Quezon City.

But upon hearing of the plan, President Rodrigo Dutetre ordered that the statue be transferred instead to the Libingan ng mga Bayani, across from the grave of President Ferdinand E. Marcos,

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that Duterte’s decision could finally pave the way for national unity between  families and supporters of the Marcoses and Aquinos.

Senator Risa Hontiveros Renames SOGIE Bill To Be More Inclusive

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Expression (SOGIE) bill proposed by Opposition Senator Risa Hontiveros  has backfired.

It was meant to be more inclusive of the LGBTQ+ community when it comes to outlawing discriminatory practices based on gender, race, age, health status, etc. etc.

But the bill has alienated biological women who claim their own rights to privacy and comfort in using public restrooms are under attack.

As a compromise to move her bill forward and to make it more incusive of the wider spectrum of Philippine society, Hontiveros has amended the title of her bill from SOGIE to LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ bill.

The Adobo Chronicles reached out to GABRIELA and other womens’s (and men’s) organizations for comment but has not received any response as of press time.
