Cash-strapped Filipinos Can Now Avail Of P50K Financial Assistance From OVP

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – Be careful what precedent you set because it could come back to haunt you! This seems to have happened to Leni Robredo and the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

Robredo just handed out P50,000 each to the 22 fishermen who figured in that now infamous collision between a Philippine fishing boat and a Chinese vessel in the West Philippine Sea. The OVP had said that the dole out was part of Robredo’s flagship anti-poverty program she named “Angat Buhay.”

Now, many poor Filipinos are wanting to avail of Robredo’s P50K dole out.

Rather than be accused of unfairly favoring the 22 fishermen, Robredo announced today that any Filipino who can prove the need to rise from poverty may now avail of the OVP’s  Angat Buhay dole out.

All one needs to do is call or visit the OVP to request for the P50K assistance. No questions asked!

But Filipinos need to act fast. The dole outs will only be available until there is a remainder in the OVP’s 2019 budget of P664 Million.

So what are you waiting for?

OVP Justifies P5OK Doleout To Fishermen Involved In Maritime Incident

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) –  Leni Robredo is being criticized for handing out P50,000 each to the 22 fishermen involved in the recent maritime incident in the West Philippine Sea. Was it a dole out, a PR stunt or a genuine gesture under the Vice President’s anti-poverty program, Angat Buhay?

In a hastily-called press conference, complete with merienda (snacks), the Office of the Vice President (OVP) justified the cash outlay.

”You see, Angat Buhay is Vice President’s flagship program. The cash gifts to the fishermen falls under the program because the incident involved a ship with a (Chinese) flag,” an OVP a spokespersom told reporters.

Meanwhile, the OVP is also considering reimbursing online news source Rappler for the Disney-type animation video it produced in the early hours following the maritime incident.

BREAKING: Philippines Senator Risa Hontiveros Denied Entry Into Macau, China

HONG KONG, China (The Adobo Chronicles, Hong Kong Bureau) – First, it was former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales who was held by Chinese Immigration authorities as she tried to enter Hong Kong.  Then, former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario suffered the same fate.

The two ex-Philippine officials under the NoyNoy Aquino administration co-signed a complaint against Chinese President Xi Jinping before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for alleged crimes against humanity in connection with China’s activities to gain control over most of the South China Sea.

Now, The Adobo Chronicles has learned that Senator Risa Hontiveros is being held by Immigration authorities as she arrived in Macau for a much-needed vacation.

A Macau Immigration official said Hontiveros was stopped from entering the city, which, like Hong Kong , is part of China, for being a persona non grata. The charge arose from the Opposition Senator’s public statement relating to the maritime incident in the West Philippine Sea between a Philippine fishing boat and a Chinese vessel.

In her statement, she criticized a planned joint investigation of the incident by the Philippine and Chinese governments, calling the outcome as “lutong Macau.”

Lutong Macau” is a old (offensive, racist) Filipino expression that means something was rigged.
