Pope Francis Excommunicates Filipino Activist Priest Fr. Robert Reyes!

C87934A3-E53C-4C14-8056-C874099BB20E.jpegTHE VATICAN (The Adobo Chronicles, Rome Bureau) – Pope Francis has had it with Filipino activist priest, Fr. Robert Reyes.

Reyes has been making headlines and footnotes since the Supreme Court voted 8-6 to oust Maria Lourdes Sereno from her post as Chief Justice.

The renegade priest has been leading protest rallies in front of the Supreme Court Building on Padre Faura Street, urging the Catholic faithful to go on a ten-day fast.  He has also set up a gaily-decorated coffin, simulating a wake and a funeral for Democracy.

In the Excommunication letter sent to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the Pope said that what Reyes has been doing is not only tantamout to sacrilege but is also an affront to the dignified and solemn nature of funerals.

“Henceforth,” the Pope said, “Mr. Reyes is banned from entering Catholic churches, presiding over the mass and other Catholic sacraments, or wearing the priestly robe when protesting in the streets of Manila. He also cannot use religious statues and sacred icons in his activities.”

Condolences are in order.

Senators Bam Aquino, Risa Hontiveros Propose Ground-Breaking Constitutional Amendment

DE275F86-68BC-43B6-AA36-1C9E3B06B3BFMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Opposition Senators Bam Aquino and Risa Hontiveros have filed an urgent Bill in the Senate calling for a Constitutional Amendment that would totally overhaul the country’s government structure.

The duo proposed that a fourth branch of government be added to the existing three.

Currently, the three branches are the Executive, Legislative and the Judiciary.  Aquino and Hontiveros want the Catholic Church to be the fourth.

”After all, the overwhelming majority of Filipinos are Catholic and that time and again, members of the Catholic heirarchy have always been actively involved in the political affairs of the country,” the Senators said. F87526A7-9398-4D43-AE60-4D318143ECD5.jpeg

”It will also generate more revenue for the government since all contributions to the collection basket and donations to the Catholic Church will revert to the national treasury,” they added.

In their proposed Bill, the Senators also proposed to abolish the principle of Separation of Church and State.

Sereno Sues FT Hilbay For Libel For Calling Her ‘Lazy B*tch’

B0CFE7A4-802F-4DF9-AD75-88756D06A242MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – If there is one characteristic that Maria Lourdes Sereno possesses, it is the fact that no one can mess with her, not even former Solicitor General FT Hilbay.

In a statement on the Supreme Court  decision to oust Sereno from the post of Chief Justice, Hilbay said that the non-filing of SALNs is laziness, not lack of integrity.

That didn’t sit well with Sereno who accused Hilbay of calling her a “lazy b*tch.’  So she is suing Hlbay for libel.

This will go down in Philippine history as the clash of an ex-Solicitor General and an ex-Supreme Court Justice.

Let the games begin…
