MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – He holds the distinction of being the most prolific Philippine Senator, having proposed the most bills that have become law. But it’s really more of a numbers’ game as opposed to the actual content or significance of his bills.
His name is Antonio Trillanes, a former navy officer responsible for a couple of coup attempts in Manila, and a vocal critic of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Whenever a new local or national issue hits the new headlines, he’s sure to call for a Senate probe.
Most recently, he called for a Senate inquiry into why and how the Marawi siege happened a year ago. The siege is about rebel groups taking over the City of Marawi in the island of Mindanao. The city remains in ruins to this day.
But to add a feather to his cap, Trillanes is now calling for a Philippine Senate probe into why the Holocaust happened.
(It isn’t clear whether Trillanes‘ call for the Holocaust probe was triggered by a recent visit to the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin by Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo and other politicians during which they were photographed smiling.)
Maybe, Trillanes‘ proposed inquiry will justify or shed light on why Robredo’s group were all smiles in the photo!
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – For several years, Senator Antonio “Sonny” F. Trillanes IV has earned the distinction as the top performing legislator in the country, based on the number of bills, resolutions and committee reports he has filed and sponsored that have been enacted into law.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – While Facebook fact-checkers Rappler and Vera Files were sleeping on the job, Inquirer fact-checked Vice President Leni Robredo who expressed alarm over China’s recent military activities in the South China Sea. But she erroneously stated that a Chinese bomber landed in the area claimed by the Philippines.
