Rappler Fact-Checks Pinoy Ako Blog

25666B32-6A0E-4AA6-93B6-B7AC434FEC53.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In its first major fact-checking project since becoming a member of the International Fact-Check Network, Rappler condemned Jover Laurio and her Pinoy Ako Blog (PAB) for spreading fake news.

Rappler did an in-depth investigation into the facts claimed by PAB in its post which claimed that Thinking Pinoy (TP) was spreading fake news about U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly calling Philippine Senator Antonio Trillanes a “narco.”

PAB cited The Adobo Chronicles as TP’s source, pointing out that the former is a satire site.

In its investigation, Rappler found out that TP’s source was actually the Philippine Star, not The Adobo Chronicles.  TP himself said so on his Twitter page.

“Furthermore,” Rappler said, “TP’s post preceded The Adobo Chronicles’ story so it couldn’t be possible that he got his information from the satire site.“

When asked what Rappler’s source was for its investigation, CEO Maria Ressa said, “The Adobo Chronicles.”

Donald Trump May Not Finish His First Term As President

027DE4E6-677A-4F18-8592-C518F3A49C8E.jpegWASHINGTON D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Sources close to Donald Trump have suggested that the President might not seek a second term.  That’s good news enough. But an exclusive interview with The Adobo Chronicles may even be better news for many Americans.

Trump has told us that he may not finish his first term.  Apparently, he is extremely bothered by the lack of sleep, weight loss and more grey hair since he took office.  He added that he misses tweeting, something that he hasn’t done as much since he became president.

Good news, indeed!

An Open Letter To Jover Laurio A.K.A. Pinoy Ako Blog

8F6B4B23-4A37-488B-994A-3E25B1BF9086Dear PAB,

You criticized Thinking Pinoy (TP) for his post about the “news” of U.S. President Donald Trump calling Philippine Senator Antonio Trillanes a ‘narco,’ saying that R.J. Nieto is spreading ‘fake news.’

Then you try to make your point by posting something fake yourself.

You claimed that TP used as reference a story that appeared in The Adobo Chronicles where we reported that Trump called Trillanes a ‘narco’ and Trillanes called Trump a ‘wacko.’

You brilliantly pointed out that The Adobo Chronicles is a satire site.  You even posted screenshots of our disclaimers and a dictionary definition of ‘satire.’

63FD76BC-CEA3-4903-96AF-80EAA547FCCBWe thank you for promoting The Adobo Chronicles!

But in doing so, you posted wrong information yourself.

TP’s post was not based on The Adobo Chronicles’ story.  In fact, his post preceded our article.

TP’s reference, as he himself posted, was an article in the Philippine Star which the ‘legitimate’ newspaper subsequently deleted — but not after it has already been archived on the Internet.  But of course, we also know that the newspaper cannot delete its printed edition.

You call your screenshots “resibo” or proof of your arguments or comments.

But apparently, your “resibo” was fake.

Perhaps, we need Rappler — recently made a member of the International Fact-check Network — to fact-check your blog.  Wouldn’t that be something?

Sincerely,

The Adobo Chronicles
