Business Tycoon Buys Out Inquirer, Rappler

IMG_3035.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – MANILA – A major shakeup of Philippine media is in the offing, as business tycoon Ramon Ang announced that he will buy The Philippine Daily Inquirer from the Prieto family and Rappler from Maria Ressa.

The two media companies have been accused of being the mouthpiece of the anti-Duterte faction and it wasn’t clear whether the purchase will lead to a further dissipation of the Yellowtards (pro-Aquino and pro-Liberal Party fanatics.)

Both Inquirer and Rappler have been in serious trouble, with the mainstream daily newspaper owing billions in unpaid rent and taxes to the government and the online news outlet accused of violating the Philippine Constitution over foreign ownership/investment.

The stock value and popularity of the two companies have more than significantly declined that their impending sale to Ang would only cost the billionaire One peso a piece.

Sources close to the Inquirer and Rappler told The Adobo Chronicles that the sale is a very prudent move to avoid further compounding of their legal, financial and tax liabilities to the Philippine government.

HOLLYWOOD, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles, Miami Bureau) – In the summer of 2015, Macy’s stopped selling Donald Trump’s line of menswear after the then presidential candidate said many Mexican immigrants were rapists or murderers.

Since the election of her father, Ivanka Trump and her branded merchandise have been dropped from several prominent American retailers, most notably Nordstrom.

Now, father and daughter are back with a vengeance. They have jointly launched a new art nouveau and avant-garde line of clothing that fashion experts are describing as “in your face.”

Well, that face is of Donald.

The new line, for both women and men, debuted at the recent San Diego Pride Parade. It will be carried by Costco, Walmart, Target and 7-Eleven stores nationwide.

Watch for it!

Leni Robredo Wants To Reinstate SONA Red Carpet

IMG_2981QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Who could forget that inspiring and humbling moment when then Congresswoman Leni Robredo sneaked out of the red carpet ceremonies and took the back stairs to the plenary hall where NoyNoy Aquino’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) was to be delivered.

Last year, during President Rodrigo Duterte’s first SONA, the red carpet was scrapped in favor of a more simple and low-key ceremony.

It’s that time of year again. On July 24, Duterte will deliver his second SONA, and Robredo has had a change of heart and fashion sense. She wants to reinstate the red carpet.

Office of the Vice President spokesperson Georgina Hernandez told The Adobo Chronicles  that Robredo so loved the blue evening gown she wore at the recent FASO gala in Los Angeles that she wants to wear it again in a closely-watched and followed public event like the SONA.

‘There was so little mainstream news media coverage of the FASO event that too few people saw how gorgeous the Vice President was in her multi-million peso blue gown,” Hernandez said. “This year’s SONA would be a perfect occasion for her to again wear that blue dress 👗.

So gird up your loins, the SONA Red Carpet Is back!
