MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  You asked for it. You got it!

For the longest time, politically-savvy Filipino netizens have been clamoring for a face-to-face debate between the social media warriors of both President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo.

It was difficult to get these two opposing groups on the same stage for a very public debate on important national and international issues facing the country today.  The sticking point in the negotiations was the fact that most of Robredo’s trollmongers hide behind pseudonyms or choose to be completely anonymous.

Finally, the two groups — Duterte’s Trollerati and Robredo’s LayLeni have agreed on debate rules and details.

To protect their anonymity, the LayLeni will wear identical white masks 🎭.  In addition, both groups have chosen a panel of moderators from The Adobo Chronicles and PolitikalPinoy.

The two-hour debate will be seen on Facebook Live hosted by Miss Mocha Uson. The last thirty minutes will be devoted to live audience and online questions.

The only remaining details to be worked out are the date and time of the great debate which will be held at the Luneta Grandstand.

Stay tuned!

Another United Airlines Flight Overbooked

IMG_0422CALGARY, Canada  (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Another United Airlines flight was reported to have been overbooked last week, this time on a plane from Houston, Texas to Calgary, Canada.

The airlines confirmed that the flight had one scorpion too many.

A passenger was stung mid-flight by the scorpion 🦂 , requiring medical treatment upon landing in Calgary.

United said it was aware of the extra passenger before the plane took off, but the flight crew decided not to do anything for fear that it might create yet another PR nightmare and possible lawsuit for the beleaguered airline.

United faces a court case after that unfortunate incident in which a passenger was dragg out of his seat to make room for flight crew.

King Duterte?

Duterte with the Saudi King

BAHRAIN, The Middle East (The Adobo Chronicles, on board Philippine Airlines) – There is a growing clamor among Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s supporters to grant him revolutionary powers in order to expedite the transition to a Federal and Parliamentary form of government.

So far, Duterte himself has given no specific indication that he indeed wants to have revolutionary powers. Now we know why, thanks to his Holy Week state visits to the Middle East.

In the past two days, Duterte has personally met with King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia and King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. He is expected to meet with Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar today.

A mole in Duterte’s delegation told The Adobo Chronicles that the main purpose of the meetings with the monarchs was to seek their advice on what is needed to be a king 👑.

“I am a mere mayor of a city in the Philippines and I have no experience ruling an entire kingdom ” Duterte reportedly told the heads of state.

Is it time to practice saying ‘Hail to the King’ instead of ‘Mabuhay ang Pangulo?’

We reached out to Vice President Leni Robredo, Senate President Franklin Drilon, Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno and incarcerated Senator Leila De Lima for comment. None have returned  our texts.
