If Trump Loses Election, He Will Buy Back Miss Universe Organization, Supports Philippines as 2017 Venue

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It’s official — according to the Philippines’ Department of Tourism (DOT), the next Miss Universe Beauty Pageant will be held on January 30, 2017 at the Mall of Asia in Manila, Philippines.

Earlier, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said that he does not want to spend money to host the international contest, but was assured that funds to stage the pageant will come from the private sector.

DOT said confirmed that Japanese billionaire and chief of Tiger Resort, Kazuo Okada, as well as the country’s richest man, Henry Sy, will be among the private sector sponsors of the pageant.

Speaking from Las Vegas, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump also announced that if loses in the U.S. elections this November, he will buy back the Miss Universe Organization so that he could recoup the money spent in his presidential campaign.

Trump said that he supports the Philippines as the host and venue for the 2017 pageant and he hopes to make a personal appearance in Manila in January should he lose the election to Hillary Clinton.

Aquino Blames Arroyo For Palace Snub

L-R: Estrada, Arroyo. Duterte, Ramos, Aquino

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila  Bureau) – The first full meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) under President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s administration this week brought together four past Philippine presidents (who are all council members) Joseph Estrada, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Fidel Ramos and NoyNoy Aquino. And boy, wasn’t there some major drama.

It was Aquino’s first personal encounter with Arroyo after the Pampanga lawmaker walked free from hospital arrest after the Supreme Court cleared her of plunder charges.

Before the meeting started, the 4 former presidents had a photo with President Rodrigo Duterte.

A video of the Malacañang encounter released by PTV4 showed Aquino striding into the room where Arroyo, Duterte, and Ramos were already waiting, standing in a line facing the entrance.

Aquino, still wearing his signature yellow ribbon,  first shook hands with Duterte and Ramos and then took his place beside Ramos without extending the same courtesy to Arroyo, who stood beside the incumbent president.

Estrada was next to walk into the room. The Manila Mayor shook hands with all 4 of them before walking to Arroyo’s side to begin the photo session.

When asked by The Adobo Chronicles about the snub, Aquino blamed Arroyo, saying that she had her hands clasped together which he saw as a sign that the lady president was the one who didn’t want to shake his hand.

It seems that the blame game which has been the mark of Aquino’s six years in office continues to this day. Moving on is sometimes hard to do.

Reigning Miss Universe Miss Philippines, left, and first runner-up Miss Colombia

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Millions of Filipinos are so looking forward to seeing the next Miss Universe pageant held in their country. That possibility has been floated around, especially because the reigning title holder is Filipina – Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

If it happens, it will be the third time that the Philippines will play host to this prestigious international beauty contest. It was held in Manila in  1974 and 1994.

But in a recent interview with journalists, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte said that hosting the pageant is not among his priorities and that he will not spend money doing it.

That created a firestorm among millions of Filipinos who consider beauty pageants their Super Bowl and whose love fest with beauty queens is ingrained in their national psyche.

The Adobo Chronicles just learned that a huge protest rally is being planned in front of Malacañang next week to try to convince the president to change his mind.
