FILIPINOS COUNT THEIR BLESSINGS; MRT NOT THE WORST IN THE WORLD

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – MRT, Metro Manila’s much-maligned light railway transit system is, after all, not the worst in the world.

Filipinos came to the realization that the long lines leading up to the ticket booths and platforms, packed trains and frequent mechanical breakdowns are nothing compared to the commute time woes experienced by riders of more high-tech mass transit counterparts in other countries, including neighboring Japan.

The ‘ah-ha’ moment for Pinoys came as this video of commute hours in Japan surfaced on the Internet. It puts the phrase, ‘packed like sardines’ to shame.

Once in a while, we should all pause and count our blessings

MURDER CHARGES TO BE FILED AGAINST GERMAN VOLKSWAGEN ROBOT

imageFRANKFURT, Germany (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – In the U.S., corporations are people.  In Germany, robots are people, so when they commit murder, they should be tried in court just like, well, people.

A robot at one of Volkswagen’s production plants in Germany has killed a worker, the German automaker said Wednesday.

The man died Monday at the plant in Baunatal, about 100 kilometres (62 miles) north of Frankfurt, VW spokesman Heiko Hillwig said.

The 22-year-old was part of a team that was setting up the stationary robot when it grabbed and crushed him against a metal plate, Hillwig said.

Prosecutors  were preparing to bring charges against the robot who remains in custody pending bail.

In solidarity with the victim, The Adobo Chronicles®  has decided to auction off its company car, a Volkswagen, on eBay. We will likely replace the company car with a Tesla.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family, and we hope that companies will return to the good old days of employing people, not robots or computers.

FILIPINO SUPERMAN LOOK-ALIKE GETS THE CHANCE OF A LIFETIME IN HOLLYWOOD

Chavez
Chavez

CALAMBA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Filipino Herbert Chavez from Calamba, Laguna in the Philippines has, in the last 18 years, undergone a total of 23 surgeries, including nose jobs, skin-whitening, liposuction and jaw realignment to look like his idol, Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman.

The 37-year-old fan also wears blue contact lens to reflect the blue shade of his superhero costume. To top it all off, he’s been injecting his abs and chest with a filler-type product called MesoLipo, which is illegal in the US.

He has reportedly spent a whopping 300,000 Pesos (US $ 6,639) for his surgeries which is really a bargain compared to the amount of money Hollywood actors and actresses spend for facelifts and reconstructive surgery.

Well, all those years and money have finally paid off.

Today, Chavez received a phone call from Zack Snyder, director of the upcoming film, “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” informing him that he has been cast for the next film in the Superman series.  Chavez had sent Snyder an audition video and the Hollywood director was super impressed.

The upcoming Superman film, which stars Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck is scheduled for release in March of 2016.  The new film with Chavez starts shooting immediately after that.

Chavez will go down in history as the very first full-blooded Filipino to be the lead star in a major Hollywood blockbuster film.
