IN PHILIPPINE CITY, ORDINANCE PROMOTING SEXISM, AGEISM AND HOMOPHOBIA GOES INTO EFFECT

Mandaluyong City, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – In this Philippine city just a stone’s throw away from the capital, Manila, smart politicians have succeeded in passing a new ordinance that promotes sexism, ageism and homophobia — under the guise of curbing criminal activity.

Beginning this month, only first-degree relatives of motorcycle drivers will be allowed to ride with them. According to Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Alabos, officials based the ordinance on a law in Colombia, a country that also had rampant crimes committed by criminals riding motorcycles in tandem.

Based on the ordinance, only spouses, parents and siblings will be allowed to be with motorcycle drivers. Riders must bring their proof of relationship such as marriage certificates and identification cards. Violators who are caught during the six-month trial period will be apprehended.
Specifically, as clearly demonstrated in giant billboards (see photo) announcing the new ordinance:

– a man and a child (between 7 to 10 years old) as backrider CAN ride in tandem

– a man and a woman as backrider CAN ride in tandem

– a man and another man older than the specified age as backrider CANNOT ride in tandem, except if they are father-son

But ordinary Filipinos are smarter than the politicians.  Many  have eluded law enforcers by dressing up as women so that an adult man can ride in tandem with another man who is not his relative.  Others have put on mickey mouse and other children’s costumes to look like 10 year-old backriders.

Last week, The Adobo Chronicles reported that Philippine Senator Tito Sotto III has proposed a similar law that would apply to the entire country.

CARLSON TUCKER APOLOGIZES TO ASIAN AMERICAN JOURNALISTS ASSOCIATION FOR DAILY CALLER ARTICLE

CaptureWashington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – Conservative commentator Carlson Tucker, editor-in-chief and founder of the news site The Daily Caller, has apologized to the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) for an article posted on the site.  It was written by TDC’s managing editor Christopher Bedford.

The article accused AAJA of “concealing” the location of its 2014 Annual National Convention which opens today in Washington, D.C. It claims that the nonprofit journalism organization misled its convention attendees by announcing a downtown D.C. venue when in fact, the convention hotel is in Chinatown.

Tucker said he has placed Bedford on administrative leave  pending a full investigation of what happened.

“Bedford intended his piece to be a guest blog post in The Adobo Chronicles, but erroneously posted it on The Daily Caller,” Tucker said.  “We are a respectable, legitimate news organization and the publication of a bad satire has hurt our reputation,” he added.

The Adobo Chronicles was unsuccessful in reaching AAJA President Paul Chung by cell phone for his reaction to Tucker’s apology. Apparently, wi-fi access in the basement of the convention hotel is, at most, spotty.

THALIA TO FILIPINO FANS: KRIS AQUINO’S REVELATION IS TRUE

imageMexico City, Mexico (The Adobo Chronicles) – Philippine presidential sister and TV host Kris Aquino thought she had an exclusive scoop when she announced on her show that Mexican singer Thalia had parts of her ribs removed in order to look thinner.

Well, to Aquino’s disappointment, it wasn’t a real scoop.

Thalia posted a photograph on her Instagram account showing the alleged rib parts in a jar filled with a preservative liquid. Pickled ribs, in a sense.

With the Instagram post, Thalia said: “To all my loving Filipino fans, here’s the proof. The chismis (gossip) being spread by Aquino is true.”

In an interview with The Adobo Chronicles, Thalia said, “Okay, now that I’ve come clean, it’s time for Kris Aquino to post photos of her STD.” Aquino had previously gone public about her relationship with former basketball player, actor and politician Joey Marquez, saying she had contracted a sexually transmitted disease when she was with Marquez. It earned her the title of STD Queen.

Meanwhile, the famous singer remained gracious in a follow up post on her Instagram account, offering Aquino and co-host Boy Abunda to try some of her pickled ribs. “It’s good for bulalo soup,” Thalia said, referring to a popular Filipino dish – soup boiled with beef bone marrow.
