Houston, Texas (The Adobo Chronicles) – George W. Bush today accused Barack of Obama of plagiarizing the Republican president’s May 15, 2006 speech on immigration.

Last night, Obama delivered a prime-time speech to announce executive actions he was taking to provide deportation relief to some 5 Million undocumented immigrants.

Bush said, “if you listened very closely to what Obama said, he practically copied my speech from the Oval Office which I made in 2006”

Both speeches touched on exactly the same themes: that the U.S. is a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants; that we need to secure our borders; that Congress needs to pass an immigration reform bill; and that what they were proposing was not amnesty.

Speaking from the Bush family ranch in Houston, George W. demanded that Obama apologize to him and the nation for stealing his words and for his lack of original ideas on immigration.

The White House has refused to comment on Bush’s allegation.

HAWAIIAN SHAKA SIGN IS NEW SYMBOL OF THAILAND’S PRO-DEMOCRACY PROTESTS

Bangkok, Thailand (The Adobo Chronicles) – A cinema chain in Bangkok has cancelled screenings of the new Hunger Games film after protesters adopted the movie’s three-fingered defiant sign against totalitarian rule.

Activists say police ordered the move after hundreds of students planned to protest at an opening day screening of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 on Thursday. Thailand has been under military rule since May, and authorities have banned the salute as part of an ongoing crackdown on pro-democratic dissent.protest

The students were obviously disappointed at the film cancellation. They have been waiting a long time to see the popular new film that stars Academy award-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence. They appealed to the cinema chain and the police to bring back the screening of the blockbuster film series.

As a compromise, the students promised to change the symbol of their protest from the three-fingered salute to the Hawaiian shaka sign.  They were hoping that the Thai military government would be more tolerant of the laid-back, less intimidating symbol of Aloha.

CANADIANS AFFORDED AUTOMATIC AMERICAN DUAL CITIZENSHIP

Toronto, Canada (The Adobo Chronicles) – It was Hockey game night on Tuesday between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Nashville Predators.  As usual, the game was preceded by the singing of the national anthems of the U.S. and Canada.

When it came to the U.S. national anthem, something went wrong. The microphone failed and the singer could not be heard. What happened next shocked the Hockey world.

Toronto fans picked up, stepped in and continued singing the American national anthem to the precise beat and correct lyrics.

Upon learning of this heroic act by the Canadians, the U.S. State Department made an official announcement declaring automatic dual citizenship for all Canadians. “Many Americans can’t even sing our national anthem, let alone do it with the correct lyrics, but the Canadians impressed us with their affinity to our flag and our national anthem,” a State Department spokesperson said.

While the dual citizenship applies to all Canadians, it applies only to Americans who can sing O Canada in tune and with the correct lyrics.
