Washington, D.C. – The State Department today announced a life-changing new policy for Filipinos. Visas will no longer be required to travel to the United States. The policy to take the Philippines off the list of countries whose citizens are required to obtain visas for travel to the U.S. is effective immediately.

The new policy comes on the heels of a recent survey showing that an overwhelming majority of Filipinos have a favorable view of the United States. The Philippines ranked first in a global survey on the image of the United States worldwide, beating even the U.S. itself when it comes to a favorable view on the American people.

According to the 2013 Global Attitudes Project of the Pew Research Center in Washington DC, the Philippines got an 85 percent score, the highest, when people were asked “Do you have a favorable or unfavorable view of the US?”

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that the State Department made this monumental decision as a way to reward the Filipinos for making the U.S. really look good in the survey.

With this new policy, the U.S. is now added to the list of 25 countries which do not require travel visas for Filipinos. These countries include most of the Philippines’ Southeast Asian neighbors as well as some countries in Latin America including Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru and Bolivia.

The “no visa” policy comes just in time for the visit to the Philippines later this month by U.S. President Barack Obama.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Manila asked that Filipinos refrain from calling the consular office to avoid its phone system from crashing.  Instead, people are being asked to download and complete the biographical form and submit it to the embassy, along with four 2×2 colored ‘selfie’ photos at least one week before they depart for the U.S.  The biographical form will be filed by the embassy for reference  just in case Filipinos overstay in the U.S.  The no-visa policy for Filipinos is good for 60 days stay in all states except Alaska.

  1. Cant you see what this satire is telling us? We favor the US better than the americans themselves. Lol. Nakakahiya na din talaga minsan. We are more american than americans. Haha. Nice one @adobochron. Taena. 😝😀😝

    1. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO FOOL US???

Upon checking the U.S. Embassy website:
The type of nonimmigrant visa you will need and the requirements to apply for a visa depend largely on your purpose of travel to the United States.

      IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
There has been no change in US visa policy for Philippine citizens wishing to travel to the United States. The Philippines has not been added to the list of countries eligible for participation in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). If there are any changes regarding VWP-participant countries, the information will

  3. This crap isn’t too funny when you have a wife there and would like her to be able to visit while applying for her visa to come home, and haven’t seen her in over a year….-_- think its rather stupid I can go there and visit without applying for any visa but she can’t do the same here….

  4. Wow…I really do feel stupid. This site and info posted looked legitimate to me and I was so excited. See, we just found out that we have a half-sister in the Philippines who has been looking for her father and his family for over 60 years…and she finally found us through FB. We have a very unusual name, which helped her cause. Dad’s been gone for years but his relatives confirmed that they knew the ‘secret’ all these years but kept it quiet to keep from destroying his family here, which included 2 babies. I thought the ‘satire’ included here was a God-send because it would help expedite her coming here before she was too old to travel abroad. My fault for not checking several sources before believing anything on the web. By the way, the definition of satire is as follows: “the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize people’s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and other topical issues.” Yep, this site is certainly on the cutting edge of exposing the stupidity of those who are close to this issue because, otherwise, how many people would really give a darn about this issue. Give yourselves a gold star. Hope your parents are really proud of the ‘writer’ in their family and, surely, no one in their family served in any wars or conflicts overseas that could possible had fathered, and left behind, a child that grew up never knowing their American father.

    1. This is not true………………. People should read this thoroughly before they jump to a conclusion and get excited. A clue is the word selfie…. The consulate would not ask you to take selfies. People definitely should not go to the expense of purchasing non-refundable tickets without a visa. This is not the first time this has been sent out. This was put out about 4 or 5 months ago.

  6. This is a stupid hoax. You can tell because it says that you cannot visit Alaska. When the US makes such a pronouncement, they do not limit by states.

You can get into the US without a visa. Just do it the way that everyone else does…just walk across the southern US/Mexico border. Obama has been stupid enough to leave it wide open. I seriously hate that man as well as those who support him.

  8. Keep in mind that if you come to US and you want to adjust status to green card through marriage, you must wait at least 90 days before applying. If you entered the country through a visa waiver program such as this one, you can only stay 60 days and it is not enough time. Filing before 90 days will likely cause your application to be denied due to preconceived intent of immigration

Why the title, “The Adobo Chronicles,” you might ask? Well, adobo is the national dish of our home country. You see, adobo is usually made with pork or chicken, boiled and simmered in a mixture of vinegar, soy sauce and other spices. When writing stories for this blog, we let the news sizzle and simmer in our mind in a mixture of fact and fiction, then we spice it up with figments of our imagination.
