U.S. ANNOUNCES ‘NO VISA’ POLICY FOR FILIPINOS

Washington, D.C. – The State Department today announced a life-changing new policy for Filipinos. Visas will no longer be required to travel to the United States. The policy to take the Philippines off the list of countries whose citizens are required to obtain visas for travel to the U.S. is effective immediately.

The new policy comes on the heels of a recent survey showing that an overwhelming majority of Filipinos have a favorable view of the United States. The Philippines ranked first in a global survey on the image of the United States worldwide, beating even the U.S. itself when it comes to a favorable view on the American people.

According to the 2013 Global Attitudes Project of the Pew Research Center in Washington DC, the Philippines got an 85 percent score, the highest, when people were asked “Do you have a favorable or unfavorable view of the US?”

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that the State Department made this monumental decision as a way to reward the Filipinos for making the U.S. really look good in the survey.

With this new policy, the U.S. is now added to the list of 25 countries which do not require travel visas for Filipinos. These countries include most of the Philippines’ Southeast Asian neighbors as well as some countries in Latin America including Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru and Bolivia.

The “no visa” policy comes just in time for the visit to the Philippines later this month by U.S. President Barack Obama.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Manila asked that Filipinos refrain from calling the consular office to avoid its phone system from crashing.  Instead, people are being asked to download and complete the biographical form and submit it to the embassy, along with four 2×2 colored ‘selfie’ photos at least one week before they depart for the U.S.  The biographical form will be filed by the embassy for reference  just in case Filipinos overstay in the U.S.  The no-visa policy for Filipinos is good for 60 days stay in all states except Alaska.

  10. I was a respondent of the said survey. Prior to giving my impression of the US, I was given a basket full of imported products from Amazon.com and Costco. Hence, my biased answer. Well, at least we no longer need to provide visas.

While the whole country is arguing and putting each other down with their own little opinion, you celebrate your success. What you did was legally right, but you just made the Filipino look gullible on the entire planet. Second of all, I encourage you to explore our entire web site and check the page that says “Projects we support.” There you can see how much we’ve donated to nonprofit organizations and charities so far, including many projects in the Philippines.     3. It’s satire. The site does not hide the fact that it’s articles are not to be taken seriously. Besides, it’s the reader’s responsibility to double check everything they come across.

      In fact, I’d like to argue that exposing gullibility is a public service. Para matuto tayo na huwag basta basta nalang maniniwala sa kung anu anong sinasabi.

      Let’s not be so quick to believe everything we hear or read. Always remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

As an American Veteran and served during the Vietnam war when all Filipinos were at that time considered American citizens upon request, I have a Filipino Daughter who is stuck in the Philippines because of the visa requirements. The fact that the US would disclaim our greatest allies and friends and deny visa waivers to them over 38 other countries, some of which truly hate America and Americans is despicable. Filipinos should be able to just get on a plane or boat and enter the US anytime they desire and stay as long as they want without a VISA

    The Embassy added the online article being circulated in social media is “a satirical piece that should not be taken seriously.”

    It referred to an article on the Adobo Chronicles, which claimed the US State Department announced a “life-changing new policy for Filipinos.”

  30. This is a bogus rticle and it should be removed and a retraction posted. There is no information on the U.S State Department’s website to corroborate this. It’s an out and out lie. They even tell people not to bother calling the consulate. Whoever wrote this article should have their eyes poked out.
