LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – This year’s Miss Universe pageant made history by having a transgender contestant in the person of Miss Austria.
The closest Miss Universe ever got to having a transgender contestant was when Jenna Talackova waged a legal battle to be allowed to compete in the Miss Universe Canada pageant in 2012, after being initially disqualified for being a transgender woman. She failed to win the Miss Canada title.
During the national costume competition today, Miss Austria Amina Dagi forgot to shave her moustache.
Nevertheless, the crowd at the Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas loved it. She has a good chance of being named a finalist, pageant experts say.
The Miss Universe finals will be held this Sunday.
SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – The Republican Party just knows that San Francisco’s LGBT community is dying to see Caitlyn Jenner in person and pay big bucks for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. So the GOP is bringing Jenner to the City by the Bay to headline a fundraiser to raise funds for the 2016 presidential political campaign.
San Franciscans will have that opportunity on Monday, February 29, 2016 at the War Memorial at 8:00 p.m. It is being described as an “intimate” event with the former Bruce Jenner. It is sponsored by Unique Life Experiences and San Francisco Chronicle.
Tickets are $40 each, but special VIP tickets, reportedly priced at $500 (that’s about a fifth of the rent for a one-bedroom apartment in San Francisco) will afford Jenner fans a rare opportunity to have a selfie photo with the Olympic star turned reality TV show celebrity.
The Adobo Chronicles® tried to contact the Transgender Law Center and other transgender groups in the San Francisco Bay Area for comment but our calls have not yet been returned as of presstime.
NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Until recently, Caitlyn Jenner had enjoyed a relatively warm reception by the transgender and larger LGBTQ community. While many raised an eyebrow at her affiliation with the Republican Party and a chorus of trans advocates rightly cautioned that Jenner’s privileged position as a wealthy celebrity made her a poor representative of the larger trans experience, most of the community welcomed having such a high-profile and potentially influential figure join the fold.
But as always, honeymoon periods don’t last very long.
Recent statements by Jenner on the Ellen DeGeneres show and on The Today Show (with Matt Lauer) demonstrating her little understanding of day-to-day transgender issues and about same-sex marriage have angered the transgender and LGBTQ communities and many have withdrawn their support for the Olympic, and now, reality TV star.
That’s a lot of pressure for Jenner. First, coming out, and now having to deal with criticism and pressure from the transgender and LGBTQ communities.
So, she has decided to transition back.
Kim Kardashian couldn’t be more pleased at the decision of her former step father.
Meanwhile, E! Television has announced it was replacing the show “I am Cait” with “I am Bruce … Again.”
