DORAL, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – Two contestants in this month’s Miss Universe Beauty Pageant in Doral, Florida, are getting all the media attention, albeit for the wrong reasons.

Miss Philippines Mary Jean Lastimosa and Miss Colombia Paulina Vega have been rumored to dislike each other from the moment they both set foot in Doral.

Just yesterday, following the first public appearance of the Miss Universe candidates, the Internet and media gossip columns were abuzz with many nasty rumors, among them:

  • Miss Colombia doesn’t want to be photographed with Miss Philippines.
  • Miss Colombia thinks that Miss Philippines likes to hang out with candidates from Africa so she could ‘stand out.’
  • Miss Colombia was seen rolling her eyes when she saw Miss Philippines come out of the dressing room in her glittering gold evening gown.
  • Miss Philippines’ smart phone has an English-Spanish dictionary app so she could spy on conversations among the Latin America contestants who are the biggest threat to her quest for the Miss Universe crown.
  • If she ends up being in the top five finalists, Miss Philippines will answer the final question in Spanish.
  • It is rumored that there are two lesbian Miss Universe candidates this year. Many are wondering if those two were Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines.

The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Miss Philippines shortly before she boarded the bus that took the contestants back to their hotel after their first public appearance. She denied — in no uncertain terms —  all the rumors about her and Miss Colombia. “They are positively, absolutely, literally and figuratively untrue,” she said.

When Lastimosa turned her back to board the bus, our reporter heard her say, “that b*tch”

It wasn’t clear whether Miss Philippines said that about Miss Colombia or our reporter.

EBOLA SCARE: DONALD TRUMP CANCELS MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT

Doral, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – Yesterday, The Adobo Chronicles reported that Donald Trump, franchise owner of the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant was quarantined for 21 days for exhibiting never-before-known symptoms of Ebola.

Today, Trump announced from his undisclosed quarantine quarters that he was canceling the 2015 Miss Universe Pageant scheduled for January in the City of Doral, Florida.

(Doral, incorporated on June 24, 2003, is a city located in north-central Miami-Dade County, Florida. Conveniently located just one mile from Miami International Airport and twelve miles from Downtown Miami, the city is home to approximately 50,213 residents.)

In making the announcement, Trump said that it would be hypocritical of him to continue with the pageant since he has repeatedly asked the Obama administration to ban all incoming flights from Africa for fear of the deadly virus. The African continent sends a huge delegation of contestants to the annual Miss Universe pageant. “There just would ‘t be enough contestants to justify holding the pageant,” he said.

Trump’s  many businesses have recently experienced bankruptcies, and it wasn’t clear how the cancellation of the 2015 pageant will impact his overall business empire.

NO ‘MISS UNIVERSE’ IN 2014; PHILIPPINES LOSES BID TO HOST POPULAR BEAUTY PAGEANT

miss-universe-2013-34dMiami, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – Last week, The Adobo Chronicles reported that the reign of Megan Young, current title holder of the Miss World Beauty Pageant, has been extended for one full year. Impressed by the Filipina beauty’s talent, eloquence and popularity, The Miss World Organisation announced that the Filipina Beauty has been asked to keep her crown until December 15, 2015.

Now, the Miss Universe Organization has also confirmed that there will be no Miss Universe Pageant this year.  The last pageant was held in Moscow, Russia, in November of 2013.  This means that the reigning Miss Universe, Venezuela’s Gabriela Isler gets to keep her crown for an extra two months — 69 days to be exact.

There were reports that the Philippines had put in a bid to host the 2014 Miss Universe Pageant in Cebu or Palawan, but it looks like that is not going to happen. The next pageant will be held in the City of Doral in Florida on January 18, 2015.

Doral, incorporated on June 24, 2003, is one of thirty-four municipalities in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Conveniently located just one mile from Miami International Airport and twelve miles from Downtown Miami, the city is home to approximately 50,213 residents.

In deciding on the City of Doral for the next pageant venue, Miss Universe Organization owner and president Donald Trump said that “I can’t risk having the pageant in the Philippines,” citing problems like government corruption, transportation and traffic nightmares, floods and the eruption of Mayon volcano. “This is not to mention Manila’s international airport being named as the worst airport in the world. My sponsors will not support the pageant under these circumstances,” Trump added.

There were rumors that Trump, because of financial issues, was getting ready to give up the Miss Universe Organization. It therefore makes sense not to have the pageant in a place and environment that would cost him a huge loss in sponsorship and revenue.

The big question remains: will the 2015 Miss Universe have a one-year reign, or fourteen months like Isler?
