Jollibee To Launch New Menu Item: Chicken Adobo With Rice!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Just in time for UNDAS, the Filipino holiday remembering their dearly beloved, Jollibee has announced that beginning November 1, it is adding a new item to its regular menu. And what could be more appropriate for the top Filipino fast food chain than the Pinoy-est of all Filipino food: chicken adobo with rice!

Jollibee decided on adding adobo to its menu after it received harsh criticism from Filipino and international customers for removing the popular lumpiang shanghai from its regular offering.

From all indications, the new menu item will be welcomed by food-loving, budget-hunting Pinoys all over the world. Expect take-out adobo with rice to grace the tombs of loved ones this UNDAS!

Good job, Jollibee!

Secretary Año Meows To Imitate A Lion’s Roar!

Oh, National Security Adviser Secretary Eduardo Año, the fearless defender of our nation’s secrets and protector of our digital sanctity!

His recent statement about a possible TikTok ban in the Phlippines in response to Chinese espionage and cyberattacks is nothing short of a comedic masterpiece.

It’s almost endearing how Secretary Año seems to be living in a parallel universe where other social media platforms are paragons of virtue and data security. Perhaps he believes Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are havens of privacy and benevolence while TikTok, that pesky Chinese app, is the sole source of all our troubles.

This sudden focus on TikTok reeks of a desperate attempt to counter China’s activities in the South China Sea. Is this the Philippine government’s version of waving a virtual fist at China? Or is it a cat meowing as it tries to imitate a lion’s roar?

In a world where data breaches and privacy invasions are as common as morning coffee, Secretary Año’s proclamation seems more like a comedy sketch than a serious security strategy.

Like Sports, Beauty Contests Need Some Sportsmanship.

We know Filipinos take their beauty queens and pageants very seriously, to the point that they almost always expect their representatives to bring home the bacon, we mean the crown. But truth be told, crowns are not like manna from heaven for the Philippines. We win some, we lose plenty.

It’s bad enough that Filipinos resort to sour grapes whenever our representatives don’t win the crown, or at least make it to the top 20 or top 5. It’s worse when our representative displays un-sportsmanship behavior.

If we were to believe Miss Grand International owner Mr. Nawat that Miss Philippines Nikki De Moura walked out of the pageant after she failed to make it to the top 20, then we have a problem.

Self-confidence is a great virtue, but a misplaced entitlement? That’s not what real queens are made of.
