GOVERNOR BOBBY JINDAL’S IDEA TO STOP RACISM IN AMERICA

New Orleans, LA (The Adobo Chronicles) – Louisiana Republican Governor Bobby Jindal, the first Indian-American governor, has the perfect solution to stop racism in America.

Last week, Jindal claimed that racism wouldn’t exist if minorities would just forget about who they are and start acting more like white people.  In an op-ed piece published by Politico, Jindal declared that minorities are responsible for the racism in this country:

“We still place far too much emphasis on our ‘separateness,’ our heritage, ethnic background, skin color, etc. We live in the age of hyphenated Americans: Asian-Americans, Italian-Americans, African-Americans, Mexican-Americans, Cuban-Americans, Indian-Americans, and Native Americans, to name just a few. Here’s an idea: How about just ‘Americans?’ That has a nice ring to it, if you ask me.”

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles if he had a specific solution to the problem of racism in America, Jindal said, “Yes! Hyphenated Americans should start calling themselves American-Asians, American-Italians, American-Africans, American-Mexicans, etc.”

“We are all Americans first and minorities second.” he added.

Jindal, 43, is reportedly considering to run for president in 2016.  If elected, he will be the first White Minority president of the United States.

Hollywood, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – It’s official. Filming for Dan Brown’s ‘Inferno’ begins in April next year and is expected to hit the theaters in December, 2015, according to an announcement by Sony Pictures.

Actor Tom Hanks will be reunited with director Ron Howard in this movie version of the fourth installment of Brown’s blockbuster novel. David Koepp has been tapped to pen the script.image

Hanks will reprise his role as Professor Robert Langdon, a role he played in the ‘The Da Vinci Code.’

Most of the new film will be shot in Italy, except for a few scenes which, in the book version, happens in Manila where the crowded metropolis was tagged by Brown as “the gates of hell.”  He described Manila as a city riddled with poverty, crime and prostitution. And traffic.

But there is a big problem.  The Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has said that it has refused to issue a permit to Sony Films to shoot scenes in Manila or its neighboring cities.  “How can anyone expect us to be hospitable to a film crew of a movie that denigrates our reputation,” an MMDA spokesperson said.

MMDA said that it will grant the filming permit only if scriptwriter Koepp will change the line “gates of hell” to “stairway to heaven.”

Sony pictures has not returned calls from The Adobo Chronicles seeking comment on the MMDA statement.

SENATOR HARRY REID ADMITS: “I’M NO SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER”

imageWashington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – In a speech before the Asian Chamber of Commerce in Las Vegas last Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) delivered a couple of punch lines that many consider to be racist and insensitive to Asian Americans.

“One problem I’ve had today is keeping my Wongs straight,” Reid said with a chamber officer, Terry Wong, standing by his side. It was Reid’s take off from the often-quoted racist remark, “Two Wongs don’t make a Right.”

Earlier in his speech, Reid also admonished his predominantly Asian American audience by saying, “I don’t think you’re smarter than anybody else, but you’ve convinced a lot of us you are.”

Very few of the mainstream media and Asian American advocacy groups called him out on his remarks, but realizing he had offended many Asian Americans, Reid issued this apology:

“I realize I may have offended a lot of people with my remarks.  I should have known better.  I now realize I’m no smarter than Asian Americans.  In fact, I’m no smarter than a 5th grader.” (It was a take off from the popular TV show)
