Who will play Rachel Dolezal in the new Sony Pictures film, “Spokane?”
HOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Sony Pictures just announced that Cameron Crowe has been chosen to direct a new film about the white woman who has been posing as African American. The film is titled “Spokane,” named after the city in which Rachel Dolezal headed the local NAACP chapter.
Crowe, who has come under fire for casting white actress Emma Stone as Allison Ng, a part Hawaiian and part Chinese character in the film, “Aloha,” is not taking any chances this time around.
Crowe wanted to cast Dolezal to play herself in the new movie, but he eventually nixed the idea, saying she was not “white enough.”
An open casting call has been scheduled next week in Hollywood.
MIAMI, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – The 2016 U.S. presidential elections is turning out to be another Bush vs. Clinton contest.
Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, the son and brother of two former presidents, has declared his candidacy to seek the Republican nomination for president.
It was an announcement that most people saw coming.
But what political analysts as well as Democratic campaign strategists are raving about is the campaign strategy that the younger Bush has chosen in order to clinch the nomination.
His campaign theme is: “Beating Around the Bush.”
The strategy would involve ducking all media questions involving his stand on issues important to the American voters, issues where his stand had previously been made crystal clear, including:
Defending voter ID laws that disproportionately affect women, minority, and student voters
Thinking that citizenship for undocumented immigrants is an “undeserving reward”
Absolutely believing that businesses should be able to discriminate against gay Americans
Advocating for the public shaming of single mothers
Taking policy advice from his brother — and recently defending invading Iraq
Supportiing a budget that guts Medicare and education funding
It will be a presidential campaign season that will frustrate many in the media. What would normally be a busy news season would be a slow news day, every day, because Bush will not be responding to any media questions.
If Bush wins the Republican nomination, there might not even be a presidential debate.
With Bush (or whoever among the declared Republican presidential candidates clinches the nomination), who needs a debate?
Pasig, Philippines from the air: “Visit the Philippines 2015!’
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – The Philippines’ Department of Tourism (DOT) has finally retired its stale “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” promo and has unveiled a new international campaign to attract foreigners and Filipino expatriates to visit the country in 2015.
The Philippine Government has designated 2015 as “Visit the Philippines Year.” It was launched earlier this year with a new web site, visitph2015.com, and an impressive video showing all the great things tourists will find in this nation of 100 Million people: beach resorts, year-round cultural festivals, great cuisine, centuries-old churches, English-speaking people and smiley faces from the friendliest inhabitants on earth.
Mid-year into the 2015 tourism campaign, the DOT unveiled an updated promo, this time featuring images that can only be found in the Philippines.
One image is an aerial photo of one of Metro Manila’s populated cities — Pasig. As can be seen in the DOT image, Pasig is a sea of houses and buildings, so cramped that the city is devoid of any plants or trees, while city streets have virtually disappeared. Even the infamous Pasig River has been soaked up by housing structures. The only way to navigate the city is on foot which would be quite an experience for any tourist wanting to explore the scenic spots of Metro Manila and the Philippines.
Flow river, flow.
A second image shows shanties lining either side of the Pasig River. What used to be clean and potable water flowing through this stretch of the river is now a colorful, quilt-like reservoir of stagnant waste and toxic materials. Tourists will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience of walking over water, much like the biblical tale of Jesus performing a miracle.
So, If you haven’t made plans for your vacation this year, make it a point to visit the Philippines. It is a must in 2015!
