MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – If you can’t lick Duterte, join forces!
This seems to be the guiding principle that led to the merging of three news organizations known to be critical of the current Administration.
The merger announcement comes just days after Duterte delivered his last State of the Nation Address (SONA).
Expect the next ten months to be filled with breaking, hard-hitting and in-depth reporting and analysis from the new merged news organization that will surely keep Presidential Harry Roque on his toes.
The merger is seen as a win-win situation, with Inquirer at the brink of bankruptcy, Rappler and its CEO facing criminal charges (and convicted of one), and ABS-CBN which lost its broadcasting franchise over a year ago.
Here is the new logo of the three-in-one news entity:
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Proving once again that his policies and actions are dictated by science and not by politics, President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed one of his critics to a top Cabinet-level position.
Self-proclaimed investigative journalist-turned-hydrologist Raissa Robles is the Administration’s new Flooding Czar.
Duterte was impressed by Robles expert analysis regarding flooding in Metro Manila.
In her latest tweets, Robles blamed the Dolomite Beach at Manila Bay for the extensive flooding going in the metropolis.
To back her credentials and expertise, Robles said she has been covering flooding in Metro Manila and Central Luzon since 1984. Such an impressive resumé!
QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo has a piece of advice for. Carlos Yulo, Filipino gymnast who is competing in the Tokyo Olympics.
Yulo could possibly be the first Filipino to win gold in the Olympics. He is currently World Artistic Gymnastics champion.
In a text message to Yulo, Robredo said that if the Filipino olympian wins the gold in Tokyo, he should salute the Philippine flag when the national anthem is played during the medal awards ceremony.
Robredo is known for saluting the Philippine flag, despite being a civilian, instead of the usual protocol of putting the hand against the chest.
