MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – If you can’t lick Duterte, join forces!

This seems to be the guiding principle that led to the merging of three news organizations known to be critical of the current Administration.

The merger announcement comes just days after Duterte delivered his last State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Expect the next ten months to be filled with breaking, hard-hitting and in-depth reporting and analysis from the new merged news organization that will surely keep Presidential Harry Roque on his toes.

The merger is seen as a win-win situation, with Inquirer at the brink of bankruptcy, Rappler and its CEO facing criminal charges (and convicted of one), and ABS-CBN which lost its broadcasting franchise over a year ago.
