MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) -Philippines Vice President Leni Robredo has fired her team of political advisers after a harrowing experience during a sparsely-attended Opposition campaign rally in Hong Kong.

She flew to Hong Kong over the weekend to campaign for the senatorial bets running under the Otso Diretso coalition.

Several videos surfaced on social media showing Robredo being met with shouts of “Duterte! Duterte!” The videos showed the VP  remaining inside her van to avoid the angry mob.

“Nakakabahala,” Robredo told The Adobo Chronicles, after announcing that she had cut ties with her political advisers.

”They told me I would be speaking before hundreds of thousands of adoring OFWs in Hong Kong. It turned out there was at most, a hundred.”

Robredo is now busy putting together a new team of advisers in preparation for a planned trip to the Middle East. Part of her plan is to bring several planeloads of supporters from Manila and Naga to ensure that her personal appearance in U.A.E. will not suffer the same fate as her Hong Kong trip.

“May balak tayo sa Middle East, di ba, na magkaroon ng Istorya ng Pag-asa (We have plans in the Middle East, right, to have Istorya ng Pag-asa,” Robredo said.

“Iyong mga kababayan natin sa Middle East kasi mukhang sunod natin na Istorya ng Pag-asa (Our countrymen in the Middle East will be next to be featured for the Istorya ng Pag-asa),” she added.

The Vice President was sparse with details of the trip, which have yet to be finalized. There is no final date of the trip yet, according to Robredo’s office.

Upon learning of her plans, a region-wide coalition of Overseas Filipino Workers in the Middle East told The Adobo Chronicles that they plan to meet Robredo at airports on her arrival — not to welcome her but to demand that she fly back the the Philippines immediately.

A coalition spokesperson said that Robredo has no business telling the stories of OFWs. “We can tell our own stories — that of our love of our home country and our support for President Rodrigo Duterte. She’s just trying to find an excuse to make yet another international shopping trip.”

No comment yet from the Office of the Vice President.

Malacañang Confirms Duterte In Hong Kong To Seek Treatment For Loopholes

63098FE4-B616-490C-A678-F911943A9570.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manla Bureau) – Social media and the biased news source Rappler were abuzz with rumors that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has traveled to Hong Kong for the second time in several months to seek medical treatment.

Rapplerette Pia Rañada immediately tweeted what she called Duterte’s “unannounced trip” in what appears to be part of the online news source’s continuing saga of discrediting every move of the President.

Today, Presidential Spokesperson Salvardor Panelo confirmed that indeed, Duterte was in Hong Kong for the weekend not only to celebrate Honeylet Duterte’s birthday but also to seek treatment for Loopholes.

”If Kris Aquino can travel to Singapore to seek medical  tests for what she announced on social media as a diagnosis of Lupus, then the President has all the right to travel to Hong Kong or whatever country he chooses to deal with medical and other conditions,” Panelo said.

(Many have interpreted “Loopholes” to mean the lack of time spent with family due to work, and making up for it.)
