Duterte Delivers On Promise: 5-Minute EDSA Commute From Cubao To Makati

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – When Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte promised his countrymen that the commute from Cubao to Makati City along EDSA which normally would take hours will be cut to 5 minutes, many, especially his critics, were very skeptical.

But now, Dueterte’s critics can eat their heart out.  The President has delivered on his promise!

Thanks to his order of an Enhanced Community Quarantine to deal with the coronavirus threat.

Even Duterte’s harsh critics, like Rappler’s JC Punongbayan, were singing him praises!

Donald Trump To Philippines’ Duterte: Keep VFA And I’ll Waive U.S. Visas For All Filipinos

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – U.S. President Donald Trump, fresh from being acquitted by the Senate of all Impeachment charges, now has his sights on Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte has just asked his Department of Foreign Affairs to move ahead with the cancellation of the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) which allows entry into the Philippines of U.S. military forces and other personnel without the need for permits or visas.

Duterte’s action came after the U.S. visa of Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ de la Rosa, one of the architects and implementors of the Philippines’ war on drugs, was cancelled.

Trump has reportedly booked a phone call with Duterte early next week and unreliable sources tell The Adobo Chronicles that the U.S. President will propose a blanket waiver of visas for all Filipinos wishing to travel to America. “No if’s, no but’s.”

In return, Trump wants Duterte to to withdaw his order for the cancellation of the VFA.

Will a visa-free entry into America for Filipinos finally become a reality.

Baguio City Declares NPA, LP Persona Non Grata

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio Bureau) – The summer capital of the Philippines and the rest of the Cordillera Region have taken the lead in isolating members of the New People’s Army (NPA) and all groups that are perceived to be anti-government and anti-Filipino, including the very liberal Liberal Party.

Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong announced a new policy that declares the NPA and the Liberal Party to be “Persona Non Grata.”  As such, members of these two groups are off limits to the City of Pines.

The new policy comes just weeks before Baguio launches its popular month-long Panagbenga Festival which easily attracts one million people.

Magalong said anyone associated with NPA and LP seen roaming the streets of Baguio will be immediately arrested and detained in newly-constructed jail cells next to the city’s dumpsite in Irisan.
