POPE FRANCIS WILL VISIT ARROYO, JAILED SENATORS, NAPOLES DURING PHILIPPINES VISIT

imageThe Vatican, Italy (The Adobo Chronicles) – Mathew 25:36 : ‘I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

This biblical verse will be the overarching theme of the coming visit to the Philippines by Pope Francis.

Today, The Vatican announced a revised schedule of the papal visit to this Catholic country of 100 Million people.

The pontiff will spend an extra day in Tacloban and other cities devastated by last year’s typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). He will be distributing clothes to typhoon survivors. Top Italian clothing designers like Gucci, Fendi, Diesel, and Dolce & Gabbana have donated crates of their top-of-the-line clothing designs for this purpose.

Instead of meeting with government officials in Manila, the pope will visit former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Senator Juan Ponce Enrile who are both  under hospital arrest for corruption charges. He will also spend time with Senators Jinggoy Estrada and Bong Revilla as well as businesswoman Janet Lim-Napoles — all of whom are in prison in connection with the pork barrel scam.

The revised papal schedule was finalized despite objections from President NoyNoy Aquino and the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines.

Indeed, when he visits the Philippines in January, Pope Francis will clothe the naked, take care of the sick and visit those in prison, just like it says in the bible.

REPUBLICAN SENATOR RAND PAUL SWITCHES PARTY TO DEMOCRATIC

Washington, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – Senator Rand Paul, the Republican junior senator from Kentucky is now the Democratic junior senator from Kentucky.

Paul officially left the GOP yesterday and pledged his allegiance to the party of the Donkey. It comes as no surprise to Democrats and many in Washington political circles who clearly saw this coming sooner than later.

The switch came shortly after Paul publicly declared his unequivocal support for President Barack Obama’s recent announcement seeking to re-establish diplomatic relations with and lift the 50-year-old embargo against Cuba. “The embargo obviously never worked,” Paul said, echoing Obama’s announcement two days ago.

Paul has been selectively choosing issues like the incarceration of men of color, voting rights, marijuana legalization, the prison industrial complex, and now Cuba — siding with the Democrats.

Although many believe that Hillary Clinton’s nomination as the Democrats’ standard bearer in the coming 2016 presidential elections is pretty much a foregone conclusion, a challenge to such nomination could be going in favor of the younger, Southern male and brunette senator.

POPEMOBILE, PHILIPPINE STYLE, AWAITS POPE FRANCIS

Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – The whole world knows that Pope Francis has chosen a life of simplicity and austerity, trading the papal mansion for a small apartment at The Vatican which he shares with the clergy, and ditching the stretch limousine in favor of a used Fiat.

The Pope’s scheduled visit to the Philippines next month is no exception. The Vatican has advised the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) to keep the Pope’s wishes in mind when making preparations for the papal visit.

Today, CBCP president Archbishop Socrates Buenaventura unveiled the official vehicle that Pope Francis will be riding in when he meets with government officials, church leaders, victims of last year’s devastating typhoon (Yolanda) and millions of adoring Catholic faithful.

Noting that Pope Francis has frowned on the Popemobile used by his predecessors, CBCP said that it has commissioned Sarao Motors, leading manufacturer of Philippine jeepneys, to build a local “Popemobile.” It will be a motorized tricycle, similar to the mode of public transportation used by Filipinos on side streets and within residential subdivisions.

Government and church officials as well as members of the media who were present  during the unveiling were one in praising the papal tricyle, saying that it truly represents the simple but colorful life of Filipinos.

“I am sure that Pope Francis will be very pleased to ride in it,” Buenaventura said.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) however, was cautious in praising the local Popemobile because of security concerns. “It’s going to be a big challenge,” the PNP said.
