Philippine News Media Scratching Their Heads Over Blogger Mocha Uson

Uson, with Misuari

HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles, Honolulu Bureau) – Top Filipino news media are turning their heads toward entertainer-turned-blogger Mocha Uson.  No, make that scratching their heads.

Soon after Rodigo Roa Duterte was elected, it was only Uson who was able to score an exclusive one-on-one interview with the then newly-elected Philippine president. None of the major news media like the Inquirer or GMA-7, or ABS-CBN, or the online Rappler was able to sign the president up.

Now, Uson scored another exclusive, one-on-one interview with Nur Misuari, the founder and leader of the rebel group Moro National Liberation Front. Misuari earlier met with Duterte in Malacañang, the presidential palace over peace talks in Mindanao.

Readers of The Adobo Chronicles had their own conclusion on why Uson was able to do what the legit media could not.

Readers said that both the news media and Uson are obviously biased.  “The only difference,” they said, “is that Uson flaunts it while the new media try to hide or deny it.”

Fool the Filipinos once, they bite it.  Fool them twice they swallow it.  Fool them a third time, they turn around and bite you!

Petition For Miss Universe To Pull Out From The Philippines Fails; Next Target: Miss Earth

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles. Manila Bureau) – Several weeks ago, a group of Filipinos and others here and abroad signed a letter petition asking the owners of Miss Universe to pull the 2016 beauty pageant from being held in the Philippines.

The petition states:  ‘This reason is the objectionable, scandalous, and demeaning sexist attitude demonstrated by the newly elected leaders of our country, by no less than President Rodrigo Duterte, and his cohorts towards womankind.’

As expected the letter, signed by about 200 individuals, didn’t have much support from beauty pageant-loving Filipinos.

Well, the petition has officially failed. No less than reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach of the Philippines has confirmed that indeed, the international pageant will be held in Manila on January 30, 2017 (January 29, US time). Pre-pageant events are also reportedly being planned in cities like Baguio, Bohol, Cebu and Davao.

Disappointed but determined, the group of petitioners is reportedly setting its sight on the next target : Miss Earth, another major international beauty pageant based in the Philippines.

This time, the group’s reason has nothing to do with President Duterte but with this year’s Philippine representative, Imelda Schweighart,  who embarrassed the country by asking Miss Austria if Adolf Hitler was from her country;  accused the pageant winner Miss Ecuador of having fake nose, chin and breasts;  and made a huge deal about the yellow gown that she was supposed to wear had she been chosen a semi-finalist (she wasn’t.)

It seems that this group of petitioners has too much time on their hands.

Philippine Bishops Petition The Vatican To Excommunicate President Duterte

IMG_6811.JPGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines’ Catholic bishops have had it with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. They have petitioned The Vatican for his excommunication from the Roman Catholic Church.

The petition had nothing to do with the alleged extra-judicial killings connected with Duterte’s war on drugs. Rather, the bishops said Duterte broke a promise he recently made to God.

Many will recall that Duterte revealed God talked to him during his flight back from a state visit to Japan and promised the Almighty that he would stop his cursing and cussing.

On Tuesday, Duterte broke his no curse vow when he warned police officers not to engage in the illegal drug trade.

“Wag kayong (police) magkamali pumasok diyan (drugs) t**g**a, tatapusin ko talaga kayo,” Duterte warned in an ambush interview. (Don’t make the mistake of getting into drugs son-of-a-whores, I will finish you.)

Pope Francis is yet to receive the formal petition from the Philippine bishops.

The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Duterte as he was about to board a plane for Davao City. We asked him to comment on the bishops’ petition.

Duterte replied: “t**g**a, I don’t care about these bishops. They can go to purgatory. I will issue an executive order to cancel their tax exemption, and I will sequester their millions of investments in the stock market. Let’s see if they don’t promise to God that they will never attack me again.”
