Elon Musk’s Offer To Buy Twitter Sending Jitters To Philippine Political Opposition!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Elon Musk’s offer to buy Twitter for $41 Billion is sending jitters to many Filipinos who use the popular social media platform for their propaganda, false narratives and self-promotion.

Apparently, most of the concerned Twitterettes are politicians, celebrities and media with connections to the opposition and the pinklawan. These include:

Rappler

ABS-CBN

TV5

Kris Aquino

Rowena Guanzon

Sharon Cuneta

Kakie Pangilinan

Jover Laurio

Francis Baraan IV

Raissa Robles

…and many more.

One of their further concerns is that Musk may also try to buy Facebook, thereby totally cutting the pinklawan off their echo chambers.

Netizens Get Serious About Satirical Site Adobo Chronicles Amid Unpublishing by Facebook!

SAN JOSE, California (The Adobo Chronicles, San Jose Bureau) – On the twelfth day of April, in the Year of our Lord, 2022, Facebook took down The Adobo Chronicles’s page on its social media platform.

While the Facebook action blocked access to the page of the satirical site among at least 17,000 followers and then some, Adobo Chronicles’s main site on WordPress remained live and continues to attract more visitors to its unprecedented 27 million views worldwide since its inception.

Immediately, netizens reacted to FB’s unpublishing of the AC page, getting serious on both Facebook and Twitter about the shocking news on their favorite satirical site.

Here are some of the netizen reactions:

AC protested Facebook’s action on the grounds that satire is universally protected as free speech. No response from Facebook as of this writing.

Just days prior, Facebook proudly announced that it had taken down or suspended some 400 FB accounts in the Philippines, alleging that these pages were being used as disinformation venues in connection with the Philippine elections this coming May 9th.

The Adobo Chronicles has been named in the Top 100 Satirical Sites worldwide, gaining the 19th spot behind the No.1, ”The Onion.”

Only One Filipino Satire Site Left Standing!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In the field of satire, there can only be one, not two standing. Such is the case in the Philippines.

Up until yesterday, there were two competing Filipino satires competing for Filipino netizen attention and following.

One of them, The Adobo Chronicles has, since its establishment in 2013 been dominating Facebook newsfeeds the world over, but especially in the Philippines. Alas, yesterday, Facebook, for some still unknown reasons, has unpublished the Chronicles’ FB page.

That leaves one and only one Filipino satire site in the country: Rappler!
