The ‘Brilliant’ Senator Robin Padilla!

Senator Robin Padilla’s valiant crusade to subpoena terrorists for a Senate probe is nothing short of heroic.

Imagine the leaders of the CPP-NPA nervously receiving their subpoenas, debating whether to swap their jungle fatigues for barongs before facing Padilla’s fearless grilling.

In this bold plan, Padilla seems to offer a unique take on the justice system—why chase terrorists in the mountains when you can simply summon them to the Senate? Surely, the terrorists will tremble at the thought of facing Padilla’s tough questions, perhaps more so than the military’s bullets. And what of the full protection he offers during the probe? A masterstroke! Once in the Senate’s hallowed halls, they’ll be so safe, they might never leave—detained for contempt, naturally.

Robin Padilla’s strategy is both brilliant and courageous—one can almost hear the terrorists shaking in their boots, waiting for that subpoena to arrive.

The New Buzzword: ‘Political Harassment’

In the land of a thousand buzzwords, the latest rage under the Marcos administration seems to be “political harassment.” It’s the new go-to cry, as if everyone got a memo to update their vocabulary.

Ex-Mayor Alice Guo, Atty. Harry Roque, and VP Sara Duterte, all seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet. It’s almost nostalgic how we’ve moved on from the Rodrigo Duterte days when “EJK” and “curtailment of press freedom” were the talk of the town. Back then, there was a certain diversity in grievances, but now, it appears that a synchronized effort is at play. Perhaps they share more than just concerns; a common spokesperson or legal counsel, maybe? One can’t help but wonder if the legal brief came with a template.

In any case, it’s clear that the playbook has evolved, though the script remains as predictable as ever.
