Our Apologies (We Hope This Reaches Mark Zuckerberg)

As of Sunday, August 18 2024, Facebook/Meta has suspended the account of our publisher, and by extension, the Adobo Chronicles, which rendered us unable to upload new stories. Our apologies to our followers and subscribers.

In the usual fashion, Meta never details any violation except to say that its community standards have not been followed. While we have been given the option of appealing, nothing in the appeal process enables us to argue against their decision or at the least, inform them that our posts are satirical in nature which are protected under the First Amendment (yes, we were registered in the U.S.) and that they are farthest from being “fake” news.

We have never condoned violence nor made threats to the safety and well-being of the subjects of our satirical posts.

Even the “offensiveness” of some of our posts are all in jest and pure sarcasm.

But we often wonder why Facebook has allowed outright fake news and videos, even nudity or semi-nudity in other posts and even in their ads.

We believe that Facebook is merely a platform for communication and that Meta should not be the judge of what is or what is not offensive to its customers and communities, especially if their decision was based on the lack of understanding of satire or sarcasm.

We also encourage Meta to reform their appeals process so as to give suspended people the chance to defend their posts with the most accurate of detail.

Facebook was largely created to encourage open communication and people connectivity. We should not be made hostage for their inability to go beyond their limited understanding of communication, much less the limitations of their algorithm.

Sen. Jinggoy Estrada: Like A Spurned Lover Demanding Answers (video)

Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s latest performance at the Senate was nothing short of a circus act, proving once again that he’s more interested in playing the clown than fulfilling his legislative duties.

His callous line of questioning towards Sandro Muhlach, who was visibly shaken and traumatized, was a masterclass in insensitivity. One can’t help but wonder if Estrada would maintain his bravado if it were his own son on the stand. But of course, in the Estrada universe, empathy is a foreign concept.

The committee’s “investigation” into what is essentially a criminal offense is nothing more than a farce, conveniently labeled as being “in aid of legislation.” The real question is, where does the legislation come in? Perhaps in drafting a bill on how to transform a Senate hearing into a comedy show? Because if that’s the goal, Estrada is already miles ahead.

‘Star Witness” Cathy Binag: Fish Caught By Its Own Mouth! (video)

In a twist worthy of a teleserye, Cathy Binag has become the talk of the town for her stunning revelation—no, not that Bongbong Marcos uses cocaine, but that she has the uncanny ability to see things that aren’t there.

Her initial bombshell about witnessing the president snorting the white stuff in Malacañang had everyone clutching their pearls. But in a classic case of “did I say that?” she backtracked, admitting she didn’t actually see what she said she saw.

Perhaps she was channeling her inner psychic or simply indulging in a bit of creative storytelling. Either way, the nation was left in stitches, proving once again that in Philippine politics, the truth is stranger than fiction.

As the saying goes, you can’t make this stuff up—unless you’re Cathy Binag, apparently. Next time, Cathy, let’s try to keep our imaginations in check, shall we?
