PHILIPPINE ACTRESS AND SENATORIAL CANDIDATE ALMA MORENO IS AGAINST MARRIAGE

PARANAQUE CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles ) – Popular Philippine actress and City Councilor Alma Moreno, in a recent television interview with Karen Davila, host of ANC’s Headstart, categorically stated that she is against same-sex marriage and believes that it is a ‘sin.’

Moreno, chairperson of the Philippine Councilors League, is running as senator under United Nationalist Alliance (UNO), led by presidential candidate Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Moreno had starred in a number of revealing movies that were box office hits, earning her the title “Sex Goddess of Philippine Movies” of the 1970s and 1980s.

Fondly called “Ness” in show business, Moreno had a long, live-in relationship with action star Rudy Fernández, with whom she had a son, actor Mark Anthony Fernandez.

She also figured in another high-profile live-in affair with the “King of Comedy”, Dolphy, which produced a son, former child actor, Vandolph.

Moreno later married actor-politician Joey Marquez. Their twelve-year union produced four children: Yeoj, Winwyn (Teresita Ssen), VJ, and adopted daughter, Em-Em; their marriage was annulled in 2004.

She wed Sultan Fahad “Pre” Salic, Mayor of Marawi City in 2009 in a traditional Muslim Nikah and they divorced in 2014.

So clearly, Moreno — who kept invoking the name of the ‘Lord’ throughout the interview — is not just against same-sex marriage, but ALL marriage, including hers. Actions speak louder than words.

PHILIPPINE PRESIDENT AQUINO READY FOR MARRIAGE

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – The most eligible bachelor of the Philippines, President NoyNoy Aquino, says he is ready for marriage, adding: “If the right one comes along, why not?”

Early this year, the 56-year-old Aquino was rumored to be dating 26-year-old Pia Wurtzbach, the reigning Miss Philippines-Universe, after both were spotted dining in a Quezon City restaurant with a large group of friends and colleagues.

Aquino did not specify the gender of the person he wants to bring to the presidential palace (Malacañang) before his term expires in 2016, but everyone assumes it would be female since same-sex marriage is not legal in the Philippines. (But look at that pinky in photo above)

Is marriage ready for Aquino?

VATICAN CONFIRMS MEETING BETWEEN POPE FRANCIS AND KIM DAVIS IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

imageROWAN COUNTY, Kentucky (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – How the paparazzis missed reporting on the ‘secret meeting’ between Pope Francis and Kentucky clerk Kim Davis in Washington, D.C. last week, is a mystery. Or perhaps even a miracle.

Yesterday, lawyers for Davis claimed that Francis met with Davis the same day as the pontiff’s historic speech to a joint session of Congress. According  to Liberty Counsel, which has represented Davis in her legal battles, the Pope told  the defiant county clerk to “stay strong.”

Davis sparked a national firestorm after refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in Rowan County, citing her religious beliefs. She was jailed for five nights before a judge allowed her to return to her job — as long as she doesn’t interfere with the granting of licenses.

In a statement released by Liberty Counsel, Davis says she was “humbled” and never thought she would be granted an audience with the popular and unpredictable pontiff. The conservative legal nonprofit said Davis and her husband, Joe, shared face time with Francis at the Vatican Embassy.

She and the pontiff hugged, and he presented her and her husband with two rosaries, which she is giving to her parents, who are Catholic, Liberty Counsel said.

Today, The Vatican officially confirmed that the meeting did happen, but that the two never discussed Davis’ opposition to same-sex marriage. Instead, Davis asked for forgiveness and the Pope’s blessing for her marital missteps.

Davis was divorced three times and had children out of wedlock, both of which are against Catholic Church teachings.

The Pope has said previously  that Christians should ‘not judge’ gay men and women.

In his meeting with Davis, Francis reportedly told her, “neither am I in a position to judge you for your marital sins.”

Despite her meeting with the Pope, Davis says she still would not affix her signature to marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples in Rowan County.
