AN ANGEL APPEARS IN THE SKY OVER CAMPBELL, CALIFORNIA

CAMPBELL, California (The Adobo Chronicles®) – On Tuesday morning, KTVU Channel 2 in the San Francisco Bay Area received multiple photos from viewers of what they had described as an appearance of angel in the sky.

The photos were taken from different locations around the Bay Area, including Campbell. (Campbell is just a few blocks from the headquarters of The Adobo Chronicles.)

The sky was totally blue without a single cloud formation except for the rainbow-colored phenomenon.

Hundreds of residents who saw the “apparition” over Campbell, as well as many more who saw the photos on television and on KTVU’s web site, immediately gathered at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church on Winchester Boulevard.

“It’s a sign from heaven,” they cried out. ”

Meteorologist Steve Paulson, however, had a scientific explanation for the occurrence. He said it’s a sun dog (scientific name parhelion).

Sun dogs are a relatively common atmospheric optical phenomenon associated with the reflection/refraction of sunlight by the numerous small ice crystals that make up cirrus or cirrostratus clouds.

Regardless, the excitement of the the overflow crowd that gathered at St. Lucy’s could not be contained, not even after the church’s parish priest admonished the people to go home or go back to work.

Sun dog or angel, it was a spectacular sight to behold!

POLL: SHOULD CORY AQUINO BE NAMED THIRD FILIPINO SAINT?

THE VATICAN, Italy (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – The Philippines, a country of more than 100 Million people, about 80 percent of whom are Catholics, has its share of saints.

There are now two Filipino saints, both male — Lorenzo Ruiz and Pedro Calungsod.

There is a growing clamor in the Philippines to name former President Corazon Aquino as the third Filipino saint, and the first woman.

Sainthood is a long and tedious process.

The process of documenting the life and virtues of a holy man or woman cannot begin until 5 years after death. This waiting period insures that the person has an enduring reputation for sanctity among the faithful. It can be waived by the Supreme Pontiff, and has been done on two occasions. Pope John Paul II waived 3 years of the waiting period in the case of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Pope Benedict XVI waived all five years in the case of his predecessor, Pope John Paul II.

It’s been six years since Aquino passed away from cancer.

Aside from being president, Cory is the widow of former Senator Benigno Aquino who was assassinated in Manila upon his return from years of exile in the U.S.

Many consider the senator as a martyr. So it is their belief that it would only be fitting for the widow of a martyr to be named a saint.

PHILIPPINES CUTS DIPLOMATIC TIES WITH THE VATICAN!

ROME, Italy (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – The predominantly Catholic country, the Philippines, has cut diplomatic ties with The Vatican, sources close to Pope Francis, told reporters in Rome today.

The surprise move comes after Pope Francis issued a statement Wednesday calling for the church to embrace Catholics who have divorced and remarried.

Such couples “are not excommunicated, and they absolutely must not be treated that way,” Francis told a Vatican crowd. “They always belong to the church.”

Francis asked pastors to welcome Catholics who have remarried without an annulment, even though such Catholics are currently barred in most cases from receiving the Eucharist, the central sacrament of the faith.

“The church is called to be always the open house of the father … no closed doors! No closed doors,” Francis told the crowd at his weekly public audience, which resumed after a month-long summer break.

President Aquino, a devout Catholic (and a bachelor) confirmed the news with the Malacañang press corps. He said that the decision was reached after consulation with the ultra conservative Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

The Philippines prides itself as the only remaining country in the world, outside of The Vatican, in which divorce is not legal. This, despite common knowledge that many Filipino men, especially rich politicians, are known to be philanderers and openly practice polygamy.

“By his statement, Pope Francis undermines the Philippines’ stubborn resolve to cling to centuries-old church dogma regarding the Sacrament of Marriage,” Aquino said. “We can’t allow The Vatican to take away the Philippines’ world record on divorce law,” he added.
