Fact Check: PH Senator Bato Dela Rosa Can Travel To 72 Countries Amid Arrest Threat

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senator Bato dela Rosa said he is refraining from traveling to International Criminal Court (ICC) member-countries in case there is a warrant of arrest that will be issued against him.

Dela Rosa, along with former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is being investigated by ICC prosecutors for alleged crimes against humanity in connection with the previous administration’s war on drugs.

But before you all feel bad for the former police chief, here’s some good news:

Forty one countries have not signed the Rome Statute and are therefore not members of ICC while another 31 countries have signed but not ratified the agreement.

That’s a lot of travel options for dela Rosa. For starters he can travel to China, Ehtiopia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, North Korea, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. Plus the United States!

Leni Robredo Launches 2025 Senatorial Bid In Japan

TOKYO, Japan (The Adobo Chronicles, Narita Bureau) – The official start of the 2025 Senatorial elections in the Philippines is two years away, but ex-Vice President and defeated presidential candidate Leni Robredo officially launched her senatorial bid here today.

Speaking to about three dozen supporters (kakampink) in Tokyo, Robredo said that her dream is for the Philippines to have an efficient government like Japan’s.

HERE is a video clip of Robredo’s Japan campaign speech.

The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Robredo while she was awaiting flight boarding at the Narita International Airport.

We reminded her that Japan’s form of government is Parliamentary with Constitutional Monarchy which would mean there are no senatorial slots to run for if such system would be adopted in the Philippines.

Robredo replied, “That’s why I support Cha-Cha (Charter Change) so that I could propose an amendment for a hybrid Presidential-Parliamentary-Constitutional Monarchy system. That way, I could still be a candidate for senator, and eventually as President/Prime Minister.”

“And who knows, I could even be Queen,” she added.

Now, that’s a thought!

Former Australian Senator Calls Leni Robredo A ‘Liar!’

SYDNEY, Australia (The Adobo Chronicles, Sydney Bureau) – Lee Rhiannon, member of the International Observer Mission (IOM) and former Member of the Australian Senate, Australian Greens, today called Atty. Leni Robredo a “liar.”

Rhiannon was reacting to a recent admission by Robredo that her legal and computer teams found no evidence that the former Vice President was cheated during the 2022 Philippine presidential elections.

On the contrary, the Australian observer maintained that “the evidence is overwhelming. . .that Marcos, Jr. and Sarah (sic) Duterte were not legitimately elected.”

Bongbong Marcos won the election overwhelmingly, garnering 31 Million votes compared to Robredo’s 15 Million.

HERE is an interview with the Aussie where she offered no specific evidence of her and IOM’s conclusion.
