THE WHITEWASHING OF LOUISIANA GOVERNOR BOBBY JINDAL

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – Republicans seem to have a problem with their skin color.

House Speaker John Boehner continues to amaze his colleagues, constituents and the media about his year-round orange tan.  During the last State of Union Address, images of Boehner showed him darker than Vice President Joe Biden and,  yes, even President Obama.

Now the spotlight turns to Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, an Indian American, whose “official” portrait shows him in an elegant pose, albeit  with a whitewashed skin.

Many political pundits are speculating that the whitewashed portrait will serve as the official campaign image when Jindal makes a bid for the Republican presidential nomination for the 2016 elections.

A South Asian surname and a white photograph would be a perfect combination to lure both mainstream voters and the emerging minority voting block.  What a brilliant strategy!

KATY PERRY DIVIDES A NATION

GLENDALE, Arizona (The Adobo Chronicles) – Super Bowl XLIX will go down in history as the most divisive sports event in the history of the United States. And we’re not even talking about the Patriots or the Seahawks and their minions of fans.

We’re talking about Katy Perry, the featured performer during the football game’s half-time show. Her performance practically divided the country in half.

USA Today‘s headline read: “Katy Perry Blew Away The Super Bowl Half-time Show.” The New York Daily News had a different opinion, describing Perry’s show, “more girlie meow than roar.”

Netizens posted, “It’s all theatrics” while others said “I’ve never been a fan of Perry, but I am now.”

Asian Americans were disappointed that Perry didn’t wear a Geisha costume. Native Americans wished she wore a feather headdress while sitting atop that monstrous mechanical lion. Latinos were one in saying about the performance, “No, no se puede.”  Finally,  African Americans said Missy Elliott should have been the featured performer instead of Perry.

What are we to do? Damned if you don’t. Damned if you do. Welcome to America!

PRESIDENT OBAMA APPOINTS SENATOR RAND PAUL VACCINATION CZAR

imageWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles) – In a stunning move which Washington insiders are calling a big step towards true bipartisanship, President Obama today appointed Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul as the country’s new Vaccinations Czar.

The appointment comes on the heels of the growing number of cases of measles which many believe have been precipitated by unvaccinated children. Over the last decade, many Americans have made the difficult decision not to vaccinate their children against communicable diseases like measles and hepatitis for fear the vaccinations have adverse, damaging consequences.

Obama appointed Paul after the senator, an opthalmologist, made an impassioned statement on live TV regarding vaccinations. He argued Monday that debate over whether to allow parents more choice in the vaccination of their children was a matter of “freedom,” citing personal knowledge of kids “who wound up with profound mental disorders” after receiving immunizations for diseases like Hepatitis B and measles.

“I don’t think there’s anything extraordinary about resorting to freedom,” the potential 2016 presidential candidate, said in an interview with CNBC.

“We sometimes give five or six vaccines all at one time,” he said of immunizations of newborns for Hepatitis B. “I chose to have mine delayed….Do I think it’s ultimately a good idea? Yeah. So I had mine staggered over several months. I’ve heard of many tragic cases of walking, talking, normal children, who wound up with profound mental disorders after vaccines. I’m not arguing that vaccines are a bad idea, I think they’re a good thing. But I think parents should have some input. The state doesn’t own your children, parents own their children, and it is an issue of freedom. ”

Both Republicans and Democrats immediately praised Paul’s appointment and agreed this can only boost his chances should he decide to seek the Republican presidential nomination come 2016.
