ABS-CBN’s Karen Davila Not A Filipino Citizen!

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) –For the longest time, news anchor Karen Davila has been fiercely defending  ABS-CBN and its boss, Gabby Lopez whose Filipino citizenship has been the subject of debate in the ongoing Congressional franchise hearings involving the broadcast network.

But alas, Ms. Davila herself is not a Filipino citizen, according to an investigation by The Adobo Chronicles.

Here’s what AC found out:

Luckily for Burmese Karen, Filipino citizenship is not required to be a broadcaster. Unless, of course, she owns ABS-CBN stocks.

That will be the subject of AC’s next investigation.

Duterte, Trump Sign ABS-CBN Online Petition

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – An online petition calling for the renewal of the broadcasting franchise of ABS-CBN has garnered more than one million signatures!

Launched by the employees of the network, recently shutdown by the National Telecommunications Commission due to the expiration of its franchise, the petition appeals to members of the House of Representatives for the “immediate discussion and passing of the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise.”

No less than Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte and U.S. President Donald Trump have signed the petition.

Supporters and sympathizers of the network may sign the petition by logging on to kapamilyaforever.com.  They can vote as many times as they want, even if they are robots.

Adobo Chronicles’ Exclusive Interview With Maria Ressa

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Many see it as a colossal blunder for this once-upon-a-time Person of the Year.  Yes, we’re talking about that 11 Million gaffe which has put Maria Ressa on the receiving end of the ire and ridicule of the Filipino nation.

So, in the interest of fair coverage, The Adobo Chronicles sat down with Ressa to get her side of the ABC Australia’s fake news, courtesy of the Rappler CEO and ex-employee of ABS-CBN.

AC: How’s it going since that infamous ABC interview aired?

Ressa: I’ve been on the receiving end of hate mail, threats to my life — and virginity — and all sorts of out-of-this-world expletives one can ever imagine.

AC: Your critics call you a fake news monger.  What do you say to them?

Ressa: The only thing fake about me are my truthfulness, activism, and integrity.

AC: You issued a Twitter apology to ABC News Australia, to ‘The World’ host Beverley O’Connor, and ABS-CBN regarding your 11 Million employees gaffe, saying, and we quote: “My mind raced ahead to market cap when I was there, which was in hundreds of millions of dollars.” Do you mind elaborating?

Ressa: Advanced lang ako mag-isip.
