COLOMBIA RENAMES ITSELF TO COLUMBIA

imageBOGOTÁ, Colombia (The Adobo Chronicles) – The Republic of Colombia, one of the Latin countries comprising South America, has gained overnight popularity, thanks to that eventful night in Las Vegas on Sunday.

Miss Universe host Steve Harvey misread his cue card and announced that Miss Colombia had won the 2015 crown, only to reverse himself moments later to say that it was actually Miss Philippines who won the pageant.

That awkward moment of de-crowning the Latin Beauty and (re)crowning the Filipina was the most reported and talked about event in the last 24 hours.  News reports and social media posts all but put Colombia in the spotlight, making it the most searched country on the Internet.

Alas, people around the world kept misspelling Colombia, thinking that the country’s name was no different from the famous university in New York or the U.S. capital situated in the District of Columbia.

In order to sustain the popularity and unparalleled momentum, the Colombian government decided to rename the country Columbia, hoping that this would significantly increase tourism to the South American country while making sure that people will not forget the 2015 Colombian beauty queen who was  crowned and de-crowned in Las Vegas.

Bienvenidos a todos. Nuestra pais se llama Columbia!

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – Two of the leading American cable news networks today announced bold moves to try to improve their sagging ratings.

MSNBC has promoted Rachel Maddow from news host to new anchor.  In the midst of declining ratings for MSNBC, Maddow’s popularity is at an all-time high.

CNN, meanwhile, has announced that it was demoting controversial news anchor Don Lemon who has been criticized for his clueless and misinformed reporting and opinions for the news channel.   Lemon was also the target of a recent online petition asking CNN to fire him. That petition has so far gained over 37,000 signatures.

CNN demoted Lemon from news anchor to teleprompter.

SAN BERNARDINO, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – When we think of “terrorists,” we think of men or women armed with guns indiscriminately shooting at innocent people.  But CNN and MSNBC displayed — on live television — a new kind of terrorism, shooting their cameras at the items that remained in the apartment of suspected San Bernardino shooting gunmen Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik.

The journalists sifted through children’s toys, household items and identification cards not just of the deceased suspects but of possible innocent individuals.

There were conflicting reports on whether or not the apartment landlord or the FBI allowed the reporters into the apartment. It is assumed that the apartment remained a crime scene at the time of the media terrorist attack.

It wasn’t clear whether the perpetrators were radicalized journalists or were simply clueless of journalistic principles and ethics..
