MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Last week, we reported that DC Comics is coming out with the sequel to Batman Vs Superman and is creating a new superhero, Pacman, inspired by the legendary Filipino boxer Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao.

Not to be outdone, rival Marvel Comics today announced that it, too, is creating its new superhero, inspired by the life of Philippine presidential candidate and former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas.

The first edition of this new superhero series will hit bookstores and newsstands starting May 1, 2016.

Marvel Comics, while declining to reveal the character name of its new superhero, says that it is based on the true story of Roxas and his heroic deeds as a powerful and dedicated public official whose mission in life is to uplift the living conditions of the poor, the unfortunate and victims of war and natural calamities.

The first edition follows the adventures of Roxas during the strongest typhoon ever to hit the Philippines — Yolanda (Haiyan), and how he became the people’s hero and saviour from the devastation caused by the supertyphoon. It is titled, “Sa Gitna Ng Unos” (In the midst of calamity).

The Adobo Chronicles also learned that Disney Pictures is in negotiations with Marvel Studios on filming the first of a series of Mar Roxas superhero adventures.

Judge Sarah (Palin): Coming Soon To A TV Channel Near You, And Perhaps The Supreme Court

BILLINGS, Montana (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) –  Move over, Judge Judy. Move over, Judge Joe Brown. Here comes the newest courtroom judge — Judge Sarah. As in Judge Sarah Palin!

The former vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor has signed a deal with Montana-based production company Warm Springs to preside over a new reality courtroom TV that is scheduled to premiere next year.

Unlike Judges Judy and Joe Brown, Palin does not have a juris doctor degree. But Warm Springs believes that she has a variety of other qualities that make her perfectly suited to the job — a telegenic personality, wide appeal and common sense wisdom (yikes!).

But this is just the beginning of Palin’s judicial career.

The Adobo Chronicles  has learned from very reliable sources that she is being groomed to replace the late Antonin Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Now we know why the Republicans are insisting that it should be the next president who should nominate Scalia’s replacement, hoping of course that Donald Trump would be that president.

“It’s about time that we appoint a youthful pretty face to the high court,” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said.

Not to mention another conservative voice — and a shrieky one at that.

Broadcast Journalist Teddy Boy Locsin Checks In At Mental Hospital

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Yesterday, we reported that broadcast journalist and former congressman and presidential press secretary Teddy Boy Locsin, Jr., was ordered deported by the Philippines’ Bureau of Immigration for being a ‘persona non grata’ after he said Tagalog  (Pilipino) was a lousy language.  His comments came right after the second presidential debate in which he criticized Senator Grace Poe and former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas for using the national language in responding to questions.

Well, it seems he is not going to be deported after all.  Instead, he has voluntarily checked in at the National Center for Mental Health (NCMH) in Mandaluyong, Metro Manila. He has admitted that something is definitely wrong with the way he has been thinking and acting in the last few days.

Just days after his comments on the use of Tagalog in the presidential debates, Locsin said that the sign language interpreter during the same debate was “just waiving his hand.” His comment angered the hearing-impaired and their advocates.

Just before he checked in at the mental hospital, Locsin said he has been hearing voices and that he was merely verbalizing those voices when he made his comments on the Tagalog and sign languages.
