BREAKING: Canadians Demand Vote Recount Of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People

IMG_0767TORONTO, Canada (The Adobo Chronicles, Toronto Bureau) – TIME Magazine has named its 2017 100 Most Influential Persons in the World, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau isn’t one of them.  Now the Canadians want a recount.

Trudeau was among the top choices in TIME’s online poll, coming in second with 3% of the votes to Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte who garnered 5% to take the sole lead.  Trudeau shared second place with other celebrities like Pope Francis, Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates.

“How did Philippine Senator Leila de Lima even make it to the list, when she wasn’t even in the original names included in the TIME online poll,” the Canadians asked.  They claimed that there was a poll irregularity that somehow put de Lima in the magic 100.

With their national pride hurt, the Canadians demanded a recount of the votes with special attention focused on de Lima.

In an earlier TIME article prior to the announcement of winners, the magazine suggested that the reason Duterte led in the polls was because he was known to compensate people in order to boost his popularity.

The Canadians now suspect it was de Lima, not Duterte, who may have paid people to vote for her.

The New And Improved Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI) is in hot water these days after allegations surfaced that it owes the government billions of pesos in unpaid rent, not to mention taxes overdue from businesses its owns, including Dunkin’ Donuts.

So, in an effort to rebuild its sagging reputation and credibility, the Inquirer unveiled its new masthead that better reflects its true identity and political leaning (see photo.)

The PDI also took the opportunity to thank those who have stood by the newspaper and continued to patronize it despite all the controversy and accusations hurled against it.

IMG_0700“We would like to specifically mention the thousands of tuyo and tinapa vendors who have continued to subscribe to the paper to boost their retail business (see other photo.)

PDI also apologized to its readers for its failed campaign to dissuade people from voting for President Rodrigo Duterte in TIME’s online poll for the 2017 100 Most Influential Persons in the World.  Duterte came out No. 1 in the poll.

Change is indeed coming to the Inquirer!

Leni Robredo Disappointed About Inclusion of Senator Leila De Lima In TIME’s 100 Most Influential Persons

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo said she was extremely surprised and disappointed at the inclusion of Senator Leila de Lima among TIME Magazine’s 2017 100 Most Influential Persons.

De Lima, who was not even among the candidates in the magazine’s online poll, made it to the final list, along with President Rodrigo Duterte.  Duterte topped the online poll, gaining 5% of the total votes to take the No. 1 spot.

“What were the TIME editors thinking,” Robredo asked.

When sought for commment and clarification about Robredo’s statement, her spokesperson Georgina Hernandez admitted to The Adobo Chronicles that the Vice President was hoping she would be included in the list, not de Lima.

“The Vice President has gone all out to influence the world’s perception of Duterte, issuing statements left and right and even recording a video message to a United Nations conference criticizing Duterte’s war on drugs,” Hernandez said. “I guess the TIME editors didn’t quite take notice.  Perhaps, our propaganda campaign wasn’t as successful as we had hoped.”

Well, there’s always next year.
