RESIDENTS WANT A DOG PARK TO REPLACE CASTRO CHURCH

SAN FRANCISCO, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – The building that has housed San Francisco’s Metropolitan Community Church in the gay Castro district for decades will be replaced by two luxury residential buildings,  according to the Bay Area Reporter. A total of four condo units will be built at the crumbling building on Eureka Street.

The church will be moving to downtown San Francisco, sharing an existing structure with another church group.

Upon hearing the news, a group of influential gay residents sent an angry letter to Supervisor Scott Wiener who represents the district on the county board of supervisors, demanding that the site be converted instead into a dog park.

According to a recent Gallup poll, 6 out of 10 Americans own a pet — more than 40 percent of which are dogs. The numbers are much  higher in the Castro.

“We don’t need any more ridiculously high-priced condos. What we need is a park where we can take our furry companions to meet and socialize with other dogs,” a spokesperson for the group told The Adobo Chronicles.

The group proposed that the city buy the $2.3 Million property from the new owner. To raise the funds, it proposed that the city impose a 5% dog park surcharge  for every beer and cocktail sold at all gay bars in the Castro.

Wiener could not be reached for comment, as he was vacationing in Lake Tahoe.

DORAL, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – While the world is anticipating the final results of the 2014 Miss Universe Pageant now being held in Doral, Florida, Donald Trump has announced major changes in the international competition starting next year.

The business mogul and Miss Universe Pageant owner spoke with reporters tonight while he was busy assisting the 10 finalists put on their evening gowns in the dressing rooms.

Specifically, he announced three major changes:

1. The Miss Universe organization will now actively recruit transgender contestants to this international competition which originally only allowed contestants who were born women.

2. Because of the perennial outstanding performance in the pageant of contestans from Latin America (including Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia and Brazil), the pageant will adopt a new official language which will be used throughout the competition, from the preliminaries to the finals.  That language, of course, is Spanish.  Non-Spanish speaking contestants will still be allowed to engage the services of a language interpreter.

3. Trump will have to personally approve the final decision of the pageant’s panel of judges to ensure that his favorite contestants win the crown.  After all, he’s paying for it.

The LGBT community and Spanish-speaking countries immediately praised Trump’s new policies.  The government of the Philippines, meanwhile, has mandated the teaching of Spanish in schools and universities — from kindergarten through college, especially among women and girls to increase the country’s chances of winning more Miss Universe crowns.

DORAL, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) – The 63rd edition of the Miss Universe Pageant concludes tonight with the finals in which Gabriela Isler of Venezuela will crown her successor.

Just hours before the televised event, The Adobo Chronicles has confirmed that one of the 88 contestants is a transgender woman. And it is not Miss Canada.

Many will recall the big controversy that rocked the past Miss Universe Canada Pageant when Jenna Talackova was thrown out of the contest before being allowed to compete again, with the blessing of Donald Trump. Talackova was initially disqualified because she was not born a woman. It took the threat of a lawsuit from Talackova and her celebrity attorney Gloria Allred to change Trump’s mind.

Which of the 88 ladies is a transgender woman? Could she win the coveted crown?

Watch for the great reveal tonight at 8pm Eastern time or its equivalent in time zones worldwide.
