NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) –  Last week, President Barack Obama banned the sale of certain military-style equipment to police departments. He also thinks that police officers should have “softer looking” uniforms, pointing out that cops are making things worse when they show up to inner city communities wearing military-style equipment and riot gear.

Taking its cue from the President’s message, the Justice Department is reportedly field testing two different shades of purple that would eventually replace all traditional uniforms of police officers across the country, according to callthecops.net. Purple is universally viewed as a color representing friendship. But the majority of police officers are not buying it.

Meeting for its annual convention in New York City, the National Coalition of Police Officers’ Associations (NCPOA) unanimously passed a resolution opposing purple as the new color for police uniforms.

“The color may be soft, but it’s too soft ” the resolution said. Many cops expressed strong objection to purple saying “it’s too gay!”

The resolution will be presented Tuesday to Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

A second resolution proposing to change the color of all police cars to pink was immediately shot down by the convention attendees.

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles ) – A woman in Russia accidentally shot herself in the head with a gun. A Chinese tourist toppled a centuries-old sculpture at the Louvre Museum in Paris. A German pilot de-pressurized a commercial aircraft at an altitude of 29,000 feet when he opened the cockpit window. All in the name of taking a selfie on a selfie stick.

The dangers of using a selfie stick are plenty that many museums have totally banned its use by visitors. The U.S. Transportation Security Administration is seriously considering adding the selfie stick to its list of items prohibited in carry-on bags. “It’s practically a lethal weapon, like a sword or baseball bat,” the TSA said.

Now, in a move that will change the booming selfie technology forever, member-countries of the United Nations have adopted a resolution agreeing to license owners of selfie sticks. While each government will pomulgate its own implementing rules and regulations, the resolution is clear that henceworth, it will be illegal for anyone to carry a selfie stick in public without a government-issued license.

A U.N. spokesperson said that selfie stick licensing will ensure that only responsible individuals will be allowed to use this popular technology without creating any public danger, annoyance, or damage to property.

In support of this U.N. resolution, Pizza Hut today released the following public service video on the dangers of selfie sticks.

TEXAS LAWMAKERS: ‘WACO SHOOTOUT A HUGE BLESSING’

imageWACO, Texas (The Adobo Chronicles)  – The biker gang shootout at the Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco that killed nine and left 17 more injured is a “blessing,” according to Texas lawmakers.

State legislators made this comment as they prepared to take up a firearms open carry bill authored by Republican Rep. Larry Phillips.  The measure would allow licensed gun owners the right to open carry in most public places.

Gov. Greg Abbott and the Legislature’s strong Republican majority have pushed open carry as an important gun rights and self-defense measure. Most Democrats have opposed it, noting concerns from police in the state’s largest cities and gun control advocates about public safety. The state Senate has already passed its own open carry bill.

“We don’t need any more testimony from those who support the proposed measure, or from  those who oppose it. The Waco shootout was a sign from God to push us in approving the gun rights law,” the legislators said in unison.

“If citizens had been allowed to carry handguns and other firearms openly in public, the biker gang members involved in the shootout would have been afraid to shoot knowing that the restaurant owners and patrons would have joined in the gun fight, just like people see in Wild Wild West movies,” they added.

Expect a smooth sailing for Phillips’ bill this week. Governor Abbott says he can’t wait to sign the bill into law
