QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – The city government is eyeing to roll out citizen IDs to all its constituents to help in the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine once it becomes available .
The “QCitizen card” is similar to Makati City’s citizen ID which was used in the distribution of Covid-19 cash relief to its residents.
Sources close to QC Mayor Joy Belmonte told The Adobo Chronicles also said that the city is also considering issuing drinking licenses, similar to the driver’s license, as a way to regulate the sale and consumption of alcohol during and after the coronavirus pandemic. Only those with a valid drinking license will be able to buy and drink alcohol —in public or on private.
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Rappler CEO Maria Ressa is leaving no stone unturned in her efforts to raise money for her legal defense fund for the appeal for her Cyber Libel conviction and other criminal charges filed against her.
Her very supportive staff had planned to go a-caroling this Christmas season, but the plan all but fizzled out after the government banned caroling this year in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Instead, Rappler has turned to Internet crowdfunding to raise money for Ressa’s legal defense, while throwing in some “investigative reporting” to justify its fund appeal.
So, if you’re feeling generous this holiday season, and considering that Rapplerettes won’t be able to serenade you with Christmas carols, you might want to consider donating via Rappler’s crowdfunding.
Trillanes, right, at the International Criminal Court (file photo)
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – He is considered Rodrigo Duterte’s fiercest critics and has gone as far as the International Criminal Court to file a complaint versus the Philippine President for crimes against humanity.
Now, former Senator Antonio Trillanes has turned DDS, a die-hard Duterte supporter.
What brought about the political wind change is unclear but Trillanes himself admitted it in a post on his Twitter account on Sunday.
Is he planning to run for President in 2022 and is hoping to get Duterte’s endorsement and blessing? Or did he just have a “coming to Jesus” moment and suddenly realized all the accusations he has hurled against the popular leader were nothing but illusions? Calls by The Adobo Chronicles to Trillanes were unanswered as of press time.
