MISS PHILIPPINES PIA WURTZBACH WILL USE AN INTERPRETER IN MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Pia Wurtzbach’s answer to the final question during the recent Miss Philippines Beauty Pageant was memorable: “Always think before you click.”

However, it didn’t really directly answer the question on what she thinks about Internet censorship. (In a subsequent TV interview, she qualified that her answer meant that we need self-censorship.)

Wurtzbach ended up winning the Miss Philippines Universe crown, nonetheless.

As she prepares to compete in the next Miss Universe Pageant which will be held in Budapest, Hungary, Wurtzbach has been advised by Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) chairperson Stella Marquez-Araneta to have an interpreter should she make it to the 5 finalists. BPCI is the franchise holder of Miss Universe in the Philippines.

(Many Filipina candidates to Miss Universe made it all the way to the top 5 in recent years, but their answers to the final question always seemed to have cost them the crown.)

In an interview with The Adobo Chronicles, Wurtzbach confirmed that indeed, she will use an interpreter. “I will answer the final question in German.”

Wurtzbach is half Filipina and half German.

While the main language spoken in Budapest is Hungarian, a good 11 percent of its population speak German.  So it may be a smart move on the part of Wurtzbach to speak her mind in German to better endear herself to the pageant audience as well as the judges.

We wish her the best and Viel Gluck! That’s “Good Luck!” in German.

ASHTON KUTCHER WANTS GENDER EQUALITY WITH PUBLIC BATHROOMS, PETITIONS TARGET AND COSTCO

HOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles) –  Screen hearthrob Ashton Kutcher has decried the existing gender inequality in most public bathrooms, including those in big box stores like Target and Costco.

Kutcher described it as an “injustice” that women’s public bathrooms are better equipped than those for men.

He said that it’s now 2015 where families are diverse, and that gender stereotyping should have no place in public bathrooms.

No, Kutcher is not advocating for more stalls in men’s bathrooms. Rather, he wants baby changing tables installed in them. “Almost all public changing tables are in women’s bathrooms, which makes it nearly impossible to find a table that’s accessible to dads,” he said.

Kutcher is a new dad, having had a baby with partner Mila Kunis.

If you support Kutcher’s crusade, and if you are a two-dad family with a baby, you can sign his online petition to Target and Costo here.

MISS JAPAN LEADS THE BETTING ODDS IN LAS VEGAS TO WIN THE MISS UNIVERSE TITLE

Miss Japan Universe Ariana Miyamoto

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – The Miss Universe Pageant is not just a competition to select the most beautiful woman in the universe.  It is also the most sought-after venue for gamblers to bet on their choice of winner  for the pageant in the hopes of reaping multiple returns for their ‘investment.’

Miss Japan, Ariana Miyamoto, has been making headlines for being the first bi-racial contestant to win the crown in her country and securing the opportunity to represent Japan in the prestigious Miss Universe pageant.

Despite the mixed reaction about her winning the title from within and outside Japan, Miyamoto is leading the odds to be the next Miss Universe among the bettors and gamblers in Las Vegas.

The betting odds are making many countries really nervous about their candidates  — including countries that are considered to be perennial frontrunners in the annual contest, like Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and the Philippines.

Many other countries who have yet to choose their representative to the next Miss Universe Pageant are seriously considering sending a candidate who is bi-racial in order to be more competitive.

After all, the standard of  beauty is subjective. And mixed.
