British Government Clarifies News Report About Visa-Free Entry By Filipinos Into The UK

LONDON, United Kingdom (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – The British government today issued a clarification regarding a news report published in the Da1lymail.com that Filipinos are now eligible to visit the United Kingdom without obtaining a visa.

The report stated that newly-appointed British Prime Minister Theresa May had announced a new visa policy for 3 countries that included the Philippines, Republic of South Africa and Rwanda.

The decision reportedly took into consideration the Socio-Economic, Political, Foreign and Human Rights Policies instituted over the past 60 months by the named countries.

Today, however, the Office of the British Prime Minister clarified that the news report is not entirely true, saying that only Filipino citizens who speak with a British accent are eligible for the new visa-free policy.

So, Pinoys, it’s time to practice your British accent!

BREAKING: Philippines Brings Home Gold From Rio

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (The Adobo Chronicles, Sao Paolo Bureau) – The Philippine team at the 2016 Rio Olympics wouldn’t just settle for a silver medal — won by weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz.  They had to bring home gold.

Shortly after failing to qualify for the finals in the men’s 400 meter hurdles, Eric Cray, along with his Filipino Olympic teammates, headed to downtown Rio for some last-minute shopping before their schecduled trip back to Manila.

Cray bought a 24-karat gold cross pendant and necklace as a souvenir from Rio.  Others in the team bought gold bracelets and wrist watches.

They came back to the Olympic village happy and ecstatic for the great bargain they found in Rio.

Cray, 27, failed to qualify for the final after coming up 7th of 8 competitors in the first semifinal heat with a time of 49.37 seconds. His personal best time is 48.98 seconds. Only the top two finishers from each semifinal heat will advance to the final along with the next two fastest runners.

Cray’s final rank is 17th in a total field of 24.

Donald Trump Wants America To Convert From Arabic To Roman Numerals

image.jpegNEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Next year, you may have to write MMXVII, instead of 2017 when dating your checks and documents.  That is, if Donald Trump is elected president of the United States.

The Republican presidential candidate has unveiled yet another of his plans to make America great again.

He has repeatedly advocated to ban all Muslims from entering the United States as his way of making Americans safe from the dangers of terrorism. Today, he went further by proposing that Americans convert from using Arabic numerals to Roman numbers.

“We need to rid our country of  every single vintage of the Muslim world,” Trump said, “and what better way to do that than by shifting how we write numbers to the way the more friendly Romans do.”
